I will be going to see this boat next weekend. The owner had sent me some photo's and I noticed the boat really sat bow high on the trailer. He told me it a roller trailer (Long) and sitting bow high is normal. I just sold a 22 foot center console that sat on bunks. It never came close to looking how this Dauntless is sitting in the photo. I also though that roller trailers were not to be used on BW's? Thanks http://www.taylormarinecenter.com/2004-BW-160/boat.htm

Nice boat. However, according to the factory recommendations the roller trailer is not suitable for the Whaler hull. The bunk trailer offers better weight distribution unlike the roller trailer which could distort the hull after a prolong period. |

It's pretty weird that Whaler don't support roller trailer. They tell that it can resist over a thousand rounds of machine gun rounds and that it can be roll over by a 40 ton dumper, but it can't resist a roller trailer.Strange, isn't it? |

I think a trailer with keel rollers and bunks is the way to go, but Whaler has in the past sold boats with roller trailers. I go by that dealer on my way to the beach, he is also a Long dealer, check out the boat, look at where the rollers are if there is any depressions and get him to swap it to a bunk trailer if you really want it! I know pretty many Whaler owners , including some on this site that have Whalers with roller trailers, and have no problems........JackPS Check out marketplace for a 2003 Dauntless in Florida! |

The bow-high attitude on the trailer isn't too unreasonable, it's a little higher than my boat on a ShoreLand'r bunk trailer, but no big deal. This boat looks to be in really nice shape, as I suppose you'd expect from a 2004, but it's not always a given.I'm thrilled to see the price; that would suggest that my 2003 has held its value very, very well. You could make the round-trip in a long weekend. You might also try to find a local CW'er to take a look at her for you and see if she really is as she seems. -Bob |
