It is my understanding that the Karavan trailers have two different size bearings on the inner and outer races, I have always been a fan of Turbo-Lubes. Do any Karavan trailers have Turbo-Lubes? Would you have the kit number that would fit the 190 trailer? Thanks

Fred

The bearing size is not a factor. The hub cap is based on the ID of the hub.

jimh,

The Turbo Lube (TL) hubs are replacement hubs using an oil bath lubrication system. I don't think you can just stick a TL "hub cap" on a standard hub and fill it with oil.

I am making some assumptions so I could very well be mistaken.

Fernando,

I found a TL part number on a distributor's website that indicates the hub has 1 3/8" inner bearings and 1 1/16" outer bearings. I think this is the one you are looking for. Part #81048 at Tie Down Engineering.

I looked at these myself a couple weeks ago. I opted to go the inexpensive route and just replaced my bearings and races for 30 bucks.

I think gnr is right--there is more to the TurboLube than the clear plastic dust cap. For starters, it threads into the hub instead of a press fit. I imagine the rear seal will have to be better, too, if it is going to keep a liquid from escaping instead of a grease.

Guys:

It's the whole hub that has to be replaced. I have had Turbo Lubes on my old Montauk for close to 4 years and they were great, no messing with grease and I never had a problem with them, they worked perfectly. I checked their site but I don't think they make it for the Karavan as I have a 6 lug rim and Turbo looks like they only go up to 5.

Thanks anyway for the info.

Fred
