I like this Whaler community. I like touting great service and product from Whaler related friends. This year I have purchased a 205 Conquest from Ed McCarthy, as well as a 130 Sport. I love both of these boats. Ed prepared them in a grand fashion, delivered them to me personally, and has made several trips back to my home to address minor issues. As I am proud of my boats, I wanted boat lettering that would dress these post-classics up. Janis at Magic Brush answered the call twice, with the perfect lettering. Here are pictures of my 205 Conquest and 130 Sport, and I hope you like the nice job that Janis has done. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/TheMaryAlice/Summer%202008/ IMG_0130.jpg |

While your boats look great, it is important to document fair assessments of vendors on this forum. I have had several good experiences with a certain maker of wood interiors for Boston Whalers that others have had less than stellar experiences with. Likewise, as to Magicbrush, I ordered replacement decals for a 1995 Outrage 21 as well as supposedly replacement harpoons, a few months ago. The "Whaler" decals do not match the originals in terms of font or spacing, and it is not really even close. The "R" was in the wrong place as well. The harpoons did not come close to matching either. I ended up replacing one "Whaler" decal and not touching the harpoons. While I have nothing against Magicbrush and have ordered from them several times, I was very surprised that my decals did not match. |

dnh, Have you contacted MagicBrush when you discovered your decals were not what you ordered or wanted? What was their response? |

I had the same experience as DNH. They didn't match exactly which means hull fading would make the replacement noticible if I changed them. I decided to eat the cost and will soon order from a dealer. |

I have ordered at least 6 sets of decals fom Janis and they have all been 100% perfect. Maybe you guys did not give the right info or your decals were replaced and not stock? I have NEVER heard about a bad decal, and if it was it incorrect it was replaced for free. Stop yo bitchen and ask her. |

I had the same problem with my decals and they were OEM decals from Boston Whaler. Mt detail guy told me you will always have that issue with replacement decals. You are replacing a decal that is 20 years old and has shrinks, flexes, and expands thousands of times over its 20 year history on the boat. The brand new one will never fill the exact same spot on the gelcoat. My guy said he always wet sands the area before applying the new decal. Worked out great. In fact he said it is even more pronouced on the darker hull colors. This is not a Majic Brush issue. You will have this issue no matter who you get your decals from. |

jmorgan40, Agreed. I think in addition to the shrinking/flexing etc the logo itself changed slightly over the years. (For example the port side replacement I received had the "R" on the wrong side. I still may order from the dealer just in hopes of getting a different version. (Not necessarily a better quality than magic brush) |

One last follow up. I did find a flaw in a decal. It was brought up to Janis, who immediately corrected, gratis. This speaks volume about their business. |

With 50 years of decals and as many or more models to deal with, mistakes will be made from time to time. We do the best we can with the info we have or are given. The art isn't perfect and vinyl isn't either. If anyone has a problem, they only need to call us and we correct it as best and quickly as we can. Period. I may not work for the multi-headed beast anymore, but I care about these boats and care about the wants and needs of our customers, even if I lose money in the process. Again, if you have a problem, call us. Don't complain about us on this forum if you haven't given us the chance to try and make it right.... |

I too have had nothing but great service and support from Janis. Everything I have ordered there has been flawless and shipped here to Belgium even faster than local stuff. Thanks Janis. Erik |
