My 1986 Newport is sweet. I want to get a full trailerable cover for it. I know of Mills but right now it's a bit too cost prohibitive. Are there any Montauk or 17' Striper covers that will fit? Montauk has the higher front rail and Striper has the same console but no front rail but has rear side rails.

For the currnent posts, I have looked through the majority of posts about this Newport cover issue and still have not determined what is best.

If anyone knows of any custom Newport cover for sale please forward that info and you will be blessed many fish!

Thanks!

I don't know how trailerable the Mills covers are. If you trailer with a cover you have to make sure the tie downs don't slap at the gelcoat or they will leave marks.

Semi custom covers usually have some room to play so i would think the Striper one would be fine. Reason being the montauk console and railings are much higher and would probably leave to much slop. If the rear is baggy due to lack of rails, just ad a pole or have it "modified" by a canvas shop for pretty cheap. I had my Montauk Mills cover custom fitted to my Newtauk for like $140 which included an engine cover as well.
