The Official Certification Exam is a one-time only fee of $24.50 only if you pass and wish to receive your official certificate. You do not need to take the exam in this state but the course material may be very useful for young boaters and as a refresher for seasoned seafarers. http://www.boat-ed.com/nc/index.htm
