I recently purchased an 1988 Revenge Walk-Through Whaler Drive, and I have not yet had it out. During the wash down most of the deck water found its way into the [cockpit sump] that houses the pump and float switch. Is this the only area that collects water from the deck or is it self-bailing?

I did not see any channels for water to make its way back to the Whaler Drive.

I am getting the boat back from the mechanic tomorrow and plan to spend the entire weeked on the water in NJ. Can't wait.

Your REVENGE with Whaler Drive has two large scuppers of about 3-inch diameter which drain the cockpit deck to the sea through the transom.

I had a 25' 1989 Revenge Walk thru. Jimh is correct in that there are two scuppers for drainage but they are not flush with the cockpit sole. Therefore water from rain and washing goes into the 3 bilge areas below deck. My boat had a pvc line that connected the two outter bilges together so the bilge pump would drain both sides.

I installed a bilge pump in the center bilge area so it would be drained as well. I think this area was used for optional fuel storage but I did not have that option.

Hopefully a large wave would drain through the scuppers but small quantities did not.

Thanks for the feedback. I am new to this boat and am sure I will have plenty of questions about many items. I appreciate it.

I have similar issue with my 88 Temptation WD. In the cabin there is a bilge that has a drain plug. This bilge is closed by an inspection with a 8" by 5" wooden board and collects water. I've dried the bilge few times but anytime I'm aboard I see water in it. I don't know if the water goes somewhere because I've attempted to unscrew the floor section (this is where the porta potti used to be placed) but seemed to be glued also. I really don't know where the water comes from, the cabin is completely dry and maybe the rubberized drain plug is not that tight. I don't even have the idea how to put a bilge pump in it since the drain tube will be on the cabin floor. Any help?

Ricky--The scupper drains in my REVENGE are flush with the cockpit floor. Or within an 1/8-inch of flush.

Jimh-My Revenge had a storage area at he stern of the boat with three teak covered hatches. Batteries, injection oil and gas filters were housed in this compartment. Center compartment was for storage with removable bin. For water to run out it had to first run under this storage structure which had two drainage holes in it and then from there out the scuppers. The holes under the storage structure were not flush with the cockpit sole by about a half inch. This prevented water running back to the scuppers and out, unless there was a huge amount of water from a wave breaking on the boat.

Venicewhaler- Also had the small bilge in cabin with a drain plug. This only drained cabin, but was lowest point in boat. There was a removeable piece of flooring toward the bow but really nothing under it and no chance of leakage. Water must be leaking around drain plug or hatch cover?? If you had saltwater washdown option a plastic hose ran from stern thru hull to under helm where pump was located. This could be leaking and cause problem you describe.I installed a small bilge pump in this sump to get rid of water as I used to wash the cabin with a hose occasionally and then had to manually remove the water. Pump automated process but was not really worth the while.

Ricky--My boat is the same as yours. It has two large scuppers in the transom as I described. Most water in the cockpit drains into the stern live well. I have a pump in the stern live well which is operated by a float switch or a manual switch. Its exhaust goes overboard via the starboard transom scupper.

There are no channels or drains leading from the hull to the Whaler Drive. In the Whaler Drive there are two drains for the engine splash well. The drains in the engine splash well drain overboard through the engine mount on the Whaler Drive.

The scuppers I mentioned above drain the cockpit through the transom of the hull. They do not enter the Whaler Drive.
