I have two pontoons, both with Merc. 75's. Both have top mount "Binnacle" controls. One is a 2001 with a 2-stroke 75, the other a 2007 with a 4-stroke 75.I hate both of them (controls-same). They've always been sloppy and ther trim/tilt switches are junk. OMC controls were far better.
You have to live with it, or go with a quality control system (gear/throttle) and move the trim/tilt switch to another location.
Some of the aftermarket controls have a handle trim/tilt switch. I'm looking at a Morse unit for the newer "toon".
The older toon is soon to be retired so I don't want to invest much there.
By the way, that old 2-stroke Merc. now has 1400+ hours. ZERO issues. None-NADDA! And, I'm NOT a Merc. fan.
Gotta hand it to this one-Flawless.
