I am finally starting to master the benefits of adjusting trim beyond simply up for trailering and shallow water or down for most everything else. Recently, when I try to give the rocker switch a quick bump up, the switch gets stuck and continues trimming up even after I release it, until I give it a quick bump down to stop it. Has anyone else had this problem? How to fix it?

My engine is a 2007 Mercury 90 fourstroke EFI.

Let your Mercury Marine dealer repair it under the warranty.

My 12-year old rigged Mercury binacle trim switch started doing this last year. A liberal spraying with silicone a few times seemed to solve the problem before I lost the engine due to #3 piston wrist pin bearing decided to self destruct.

Yes, had the same problem with my Mercury control. I used CRC 656 instead of silicone spray though.

I was going to recommend WD-40.

I'd give any one of those a try before going back to the dealer for warranty - just for the sake that it may just be that simple an answer and an easy fix that wouldn't require any further hassle (however minor taking it in may be for you) or any possible loss of time with the boat at the dealer (whose mechanic will probably first try spraying it himself when he gets around to working your order).

I have two pontoons, both with Merc. 75's. Both have top mount "Binnacle" controls. One is a 2001 with a 2-stroke 75, the other a 2007 with a 4-stroke 75.

I hate both of them (controls-same). They've always been sloppy and ther trim/tilt switches are junk. OMC controls were far better.

You have to live with it, or go with a quality control system (gear/throttle) and move the trim/tilt switch to another location.

Some of the aftermarket controls have a handle trim/tilt switch. I'm looking at a Morse unit for the newer "toon".

The older toon is soon to be retired so I don't want to invest much there.

By the way, that old 2-stroke Merc. now has 1400+ hours. ZERO issues. None-NADDA! And, I'm NOT a Merc. fan.

Gotta hand it to this one-Flawless.
