Hello all, I have something I would like to share with the Whaler community. I have a new supplier for custom-made Whaler canvas and cushions that has some real potential. This is a canvas and upholstery shop that does very high quality, old world style workmanship, with the latest materials like sunbrella and UV resistant upholstery materials. I have attached a couple of pictures of a cooler cover and seat back that he made from the old dry rotted parts. They look great. The foam, backing, and hardware are all first class.I haven't taken any good pictures of the canvas, but it looks fantastic. These guys have been making boat canvas for 40 years and do a fantastic job. I would like to get a couple of canvas pieces from some of the classic Whaler designs for patterns so this guy can make canvas to supply Whaler owners. The 11, 13, and 15 Sport, and the 17' Montauk are good ones to start. If you need canvas for one of these models, and are willing to ship your old one canvas, I am sure we can work a deal. The old canvas will need to be cut apart for patterns so it is goner he is done with it. I'll work on the pictures for the new canvas but it won't be for a couple of weeks. If anyone is interested please let me know. David 009.jpg 001.jpg 005.jpg 006.jpg

ASIDE to JEFF: [T]he original motor has a cracked block and from what [I] have found out about older OMC blocks the 150 and 175's early to late 1990's had manufacturing defects in the castings that cracked and allowed water to get into the #1 or #3 cylinders. [E]very outboard marine shop that was worth their weight knew about this defect and showed me OEM service bulletins that identified the problem. [I] could have it fixed for about $2000, but they do not offer any promises. [I]t's a fresh water 1993 [J]ohnson 150 [O]ceanrunner, loop charged, and [I] am going to part it out come Spring. [E]verything is cherry on the motor EXCEPT the block. [I]t's a shame, too, because this is a great motor. |

I would discover your email address the same way you would discover mine: look at the user profile. I don't really want to privately convey the pictures. When you have some, post them on-line where we can all see them. Give us the vendor's name and contact information. |
