I OWN A 94 13' SPORT BOSTON WHALER WITH A 40 HP MERCURY ENGINE.....THE BOAT DOES NOT SELF BAIL....THE ENGINE MOUNT PLUGS THE HOLE....OR SO IT SEEMS. HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM??? AND IF SO IS THERE A WAY TO REMEDY IT....ANY HELP WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATIVE.

Drill a new hole in a location not blocked by the motor bracket?

How on earth is your drain hole blocked by a Mercury transom bracket?

The drain hole is centered, and almost all the way at the bottom of the transom. Even if you wanted to drill a another hole, you really can't go any lower.

Please post a picture of your transom.

......SURE, I WOULD BE MORE THEN HAPPY TO POST A PIC. THE BOAT IS AT MY MOTHER'S HOUSE....ITS HER BOAT. I'M THE CHIEF MECHANIC :)......THE ONLY WAY I KNOW IT DOES NOT REALLY SELF BAIL IS WHEN I TOOK THE BOAT OUT LAST OCTOBER AND WAS WASHING THE INSIDE OF THE BOAT THE WATER WAS JUST BARELY COMING OUT OF THE HOLE IN THE TRANSOM....YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE THE HOLE FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE 40 HP MERCURY ENGINE HAS A HYDRAULIC LIFT CYLINDER JUST ABOUT WHERE THE HOLE SHOULD BE.......MY ONLY OTHER GUESS IS THAT THE HOLE SOMEHOW GOT CLOGGED. LAST SUMMER WAS THE FIRST YEAR THAT WE OWNED THE BOAT. SO WE ARE LEARNING AS WE GO ALONG. I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANY OTHER 13 SPORT OWNERS MIGHT BE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM.

Stop using all caps.

Try using normal punctuation.

Raise the motor on the transom.

My 2002 Sport 130 had the Merc 40 4-stroke, and the drain was about 50% blocked by either the motor bracket, T$T assembly or a plate between the motor and the transom (factory installed). Water dribbled out very slowly.

OK...The motor on my 13 sport is also a 40 merc 4 stoke. And yes it dribbles out very slowly. Looks like I'm going to have to modify the engine mount somehow to get the self bailing operational.....kind of a bummer that Boston Whaler let this happen.....self bailing is an important asset if you know what I mean.

Are you familiar with this problem???? And if I raise the engine 2 holes, do I put anything between the top of the transom and the engine bracket. As of now the engine bracket sits on to of the transom.

No..just raise it up 2 or 3 holes and don't worry about the gap. You might also gain a few mph.
