It's not an "extreme" makeover, but the 1973 19' is starting to look new again after this last round with the makeover specialists. Last year was spent getting her functional (new fuel tank, engine, deck rebuilt, seats) this year is going to be spent on aesthetics. Just a few more odds and ends and she will be done...for this season anyway.

Nice work! Looks like a great combo of fishing machine and Cadillac. Can't wait to check it out at the Lanier meetup!

What you can't see really well is the shine on that fiberglass- (unfortunately) I have had the pleasure of watching Murphy's boat in different stages of progress, it really looks great! I'm glad you got Robert to do your splashwell too- good call! -k

Wow, looks fantastic. I really love the lines on the "banana" models.

I like that leaning post (seat, whatever it's called).

Looks like the entire family should be able to fit on this boat.

I know you are proud of her.

I think that you have done a very fine job in refitting her.
I will confess that I have a soft spot for a stern seat;
And have found your leaning post and stern seat combination intriguing.
Were the snaps already there on the cap or did you install them?
I think that We had better to keep this message private as "My Girl" would rather be jealous if she knew that I had laid eyes on your Girl.
I did find your refit interesting.

Murphy - I have a PERFECT trailer for your boat for sale, which came under my 19. Take a look:

Whether you are interested in mine or not, it looks the one you have is not suited for the boat.

Have you considered the original red rubrail insert from Twin Cities? A group of us just had a special order of this run by the manufacturer, and Twin Cities still has some I believe.

I don't know what your console looks like, but I have an original set of teak plywood instrument panels also. See marketplace.

Nicely done, Murph. She is really shining. I will concur with LHG that you should try to get your boat off the roller trailer. It is not recommended for Whalers and can cause delamination of the foam to hull bond over time.

Once again, kudos for your effort and may we all have a happy and safe year on the water in our Classic Outrage 19's...

Ritzy,

The snaps were on there, but they drilled out the original snaps and put back in new stainless snaps. They fit the forward dodger (not Mills) that came with the boat.

LHG & Chi,
I know the trailer doesn't quite fit the boat but when I bought it I had no other choices. I picked up the boat on MD's eastern shore and had a tight schedule to travel on a Friday to MD, get the boat on Sat. and return Sat. night. Of course the trailer that it came on broke off a set of springs in VA beach and it was Sat. night and all boat places were closed. I ended up meeting a nice soul in Walmart who had a friend who happened to have a trailer for sale- he called him and I went to his friends house a few miles a way and sure enough he had a trailer. I ended up having to get a hotel in VA beach and spend the night then drove over to this guy's house Sun. morning and he helped me move the boat over to the new trailer (that was easy since he lived on the water and had a makeshift ramp in his backyard). He took the old trailer off my hands and I was on my way. I made it back to Atlanta Sunday night.

Sorry for the long story, but now you understand why I have that trailer. :-) One day when I save up enough money I will get a bunk trailer, but for now that one is doing fine. Robert took all of the blisters off the bottom when he took off the bottom paint and patched it so it should be ok for a while longer.

Also, I have seen LHG's trailer for sale in the marketplace, but I would prefer galvanized as I will eventually be using this boat in salt water and fresh.

Oh, and about the red rubrail...I considered that long and hard but decided to go with black to keep with the black/silver motif. Also, the wife did not like the red. So I had to listen to the boss and I have to admit I like the black rubrail in combination with the black bottom paint.

Murphy;
I will guess that you may be on the threshold of the Brotherhood of the 19 Outrage Classic.
I will be keeping an eye open for your progress with this very Classy and Fine Girl..
