Advice, I have a 160 dauntless without rod holders. I'm interested in a set of
CE Smith flush mount rod holders but I'm not sure which of the three angles to purchase. They come in 0, 15 or 30 degrees. I will be using them for light trolling and mostly just storing while bottom fishing. Part 2 to this question is, if I purchase the angled mounts should I angle them slightly outward to keep the lines further apart or just pitch them straight back?
Thank you!!!

Buddha,

FWIW I have a 160 also and after a lot of thought decided to mount some rod holders. I decided I would rather not drill through the gunnel of my Dauntless so I selected West Marine's stainless steel clamp-on rod holders.

I mounted two to the bow rail stanchions adjacent to the forward cleats. I use these holders for storing two rods while underway. I also mounted two to the railing stanchions that are immediately next to the engine area.

These aftermost rod holders are very well suited for trolling. They are very adjustable and can be adjusted to cant rods way out to either side of the engine. They are perfect for trolling surface bait or lures in the boats wake. They are also very well suited for rod storage when not being used for trolling. They are also very handy to the RPS for putting a rod down while enjoying a bit of lunch while bottom fishing.

My opinion is that these rod holders are a good fit on our small boats and look very good. They enjoy the added benefit of being infinitely adjutable and moveable to other locations. The prices are not bad, either.

For Buddha:

A Buddhist monk goes into a Boston Whaler dealer to buy a new SUPER SPORT 15.

The salesman is very helpful and shows him all the options and accessories available. After a lot of discussion, the salesman makes his pitch to close the deal:

SALESMAN: "What accessories would you like on your new Boston Whaler SUPER SPORT 15?"

BUDDHIST MONK: "Make me one with everything."
