'85 Johnson 150: the warning horn sounds continuously, as soon as you turn on the key, and does not stop. I did not see this condition mentioned in the reference article. Any ideas?

Looks like it was a false alarm. It went off as soon as I started the engine.

On your motor, either a sensor is faulty, there is a short in the tan wire circuit, or the horn is faulty (only if you have the later model self-test horn).

The first thing to try is to disconnect the oil tank low-level wires at the engine. It is very common for the electronics in the oil pickup assembly to go belly-up and give off erroneous signals.

If you had a severe overheat condition recently, sometimes a temp sensor shorts internally, giving you the solid horn alarm all the time.

Let us know what you find out.

Any of those sound like very likely posibilities. The engine is 24 years old, and I rebuilt it lasy year. It's entirely possible that I may hav e messed something up while rebuilding.

However, I'm not sure how I would diagnose it, as it is no longer giving the buzzer at all.
