Now that Bella is apparently living on a trailer this summer, I'm kind of enjoying it. I was fortunate enough to spent some time by the pool this last Sunday when I looked over and saw the boat parked as far the rear of the property as possible, it all ties in. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e336/Metuchen/Global/IMG_4698.jpg |

Joe, Looks right at home to me. I think she compliments the landscaping just fine. Hey, when I look out my window, I just see grass and the driveway these days. Dan |

Bella - I have the same view out my kitchen window, granted the boat is an Outrage 17 and she is sitting under a tarp. Still remember going out at the beginning of March. http://picasaweb.google.com/CascoBayOutrage/ 2009Boating#5310957369025501954 (Yeah, that white stuff is snow) |

Joe, While Bella does look great next to the pool, it does nothing for my view at the dock. There is a BIG hole where I always walk down to with my ice coffee in hand to make sure all is well with her. Another great thing about having her on a trailer at home is you get to clean places you never really even look at when slipped. I'm real glad this is working out for you and you have a HUGE advantage at the ramps with your crew, those guys are EXCELLENT boatmen, I was impressed the first time I saw your son drop Bella in the slip that windy April morning a few years ago. I guess you are going to launch out of Atlantic Highlands for the rendezvous? Ed |

Hey Joe, During the summer my daughter takes swim lessons at Johnsons Boatworks in Bayhead. The pool is pretty nice, but it is in the center of a marina and boatyard. I love it. I see so many boats surrounding the pool, from Whalers to Parkers to tugs to sailboats. Nice pool you have! |

Flip those fenders over to the other side:) Every back yard should have a boat in it. A chicken in every pot... |

Thanks Guys. My preference would obviously be to have her in a slip, but your right Ed, this is a clean and well oiled machine at this point. I even had time to plot courses in the GPS for the first time. The trees are to the South of the boat so it's in the shade all day. Makes it much more bearable to work on. It's funny, but when I was my sons age, I would be hauling that boat to the nearest ramp every opportunity I got. They won't, unless dear ol' dads involved! These kids have everything but won't take any chances. When we were that age we had nothing and lived on the edge always. Good? Bad? I don't know. |

No matter what window I look out I see a Whaler. Got at least 1 on every side of the house. |

Bella...it was GOOD living on the edge. I can't imagine your sons not begging and pleading to take that boat out every waking minute, but they're not you, or me. I WAS that kind of kid. Once we had wheels in our later teenage years we rented rowboats from Frank's Boats in the Atlantic Highlands and snuck around the Sandy Hook Rip in search of fluke (adventure!) as much as our limited budgets allow. This was done with my trusty '54 Evinrude 7.5 outboard strapped on! Sometimes I take my friends teenage sons along on fishing trips on my Ventura. I ask their dads later how they liked it; do they want to go again. Always indifference, you know, it's OK, and this is after they haul in slammer blues, fluke, albacore--a good fishing day for anyone. PS--I'm a former KMB member, from 1983 to 1988, and am now slipped on Barnegat Bay. How are John and Bob doing? |

John and Bob are doing fine considering they still smoke about four packs a day. They seem to have cool the temper flare-ups that existed in the past. I've been in that marina since '85 so we must have crossed paths. I was always on dock 2 right about in the middle. Hey - I can remember launching out of Highland Park with my 12' Duranatic with the 5.5hp hanging off the back and making the trip to Sandy hook and back. |

LOL...they smoke like the Capts on Deadliest Catch, those two. I thought time would finally tame them. I think I began on 2 dock--in a 16' Duranautic. My last 3 years was in a Mako 258 cuddy--"Flying Gaff III", slipped on that private bulkhead dock next to Ken R's "Dubious". I think Pepperoni is/was there last I looked and that was a loooong time ago. Maybe Ken is back? Highland Park to the Hook in a Duranautic? Finally, someone more hardcore than me. We did launch a 12' Gamefisher in Perth Amboy and troll the bay for blues, though. And of course, running the Hudson Canyon from KMB is a haul, too...! |
