I've got an 18' Outrage, on which the drain tube goes directly through the hull and out the bottom of the boat. I've been thinking that this looks like it would be excellent for use as a thru-hull for the pickup on my livewell. Currently, there is a hose that hangs over the transom and connects to a transom-mounted pump. I'd prefer to have a more streamlined system. I was thinking, there must be some sort of way to insert a hose into this opening that would keep it watertight, but would also be removable, so that the drain tube could still be used to drain the boat when it is on the trailer. Does anyone make such a thing? |

Not sure what the smallest hose diameter your livewell supply could use, but a one-hole rubber stopper with some plastic ice-maker water supply hose would be a cheap experiment. http://www.widgetco.com/rubber-stoppers If it has to be 3/4" hose or so for the livewell, that's pretty close to the diameter of the drain tube. Maybe you there is a hose coupler that could just jam in in there and hold. |

I think this is what you are talking about. |

I can use any old pump, that's sort of irrelevant. The stoppers are a good idea, but I think you're right in that that the best solution may just be some sort of hose coupler. It's a Whaler, it's not like it's going to sink if it leaks a little bit. |

Oh! I get it now. I'd seen those Rule pumps on West Marine, but didn't realize they were intended for through-hull installations. The description on that and other websites didn't say anything about that. I had to go to Rule's website to see it. Perhaps one of those would work. |
