I was having difficulty replacing my fuel fill hose on my Guardian 18. I noticed Buckda's thread on this subject, and do to taking the boat on vacation in 2 days from my difficulties, I e-mailed Dave for help. He responded immediately with some great advice, and I am ready to go vacate with the boat thanks to his help. Yet again, I am amazed at the help and fellowship available on this online community.

Tony -No worries. I appreciate the comments. One of the single best things about this web community, beyond the great information content, is the camraderie felt by many members here. Whaler owners probably have at least as much to do with "the legend" as the boats themselves! Have fun on your vacation. I know I'm looking forward to mine (Two more hours....) |

Dave has been a great resource on some of my posts. His feedback comes across unbiased and experience based. |

Mike,I heard about that story and your post made me laugh. Honestly tough, outside of my father I think I have spend more time Whalering with Dave over the last 5 years than anyone else. He really is a great guy, excellent seaman and always willing to help. |

Yeah, well he also splashed me when he did a cannonball on one of the Lake Huron Rendezvous when we were all anchored together. I'll bet you never heard about that did ya!:) |

Thanks guys -Mike - was thinking and talked about you last night. We're at St. Amant's in Britt (currently) and we were talking about swimming off the back of GAMBLER's former superstructure. Not much swimming in Georgian Bay this "summer that wasn't". Also crossied Hangdog Reef and the offshore passage north to Britt (remember that in the middle of the night after Pat's motor died?!) - did that in 6-8 ft seas. E-TEC's are humming along - got 4.4 MPG on the way up here - 110 miles GPS on 25 gallons in the on-deck tanks. Had to do the last 10 miles on the belly tank. Cheers!

Wow. Talk about a small world. I've been building a cottage maybe 10 minutes from the Ojibway Club in your photos. Don't know if you remember Dave, but I was the person who bought your Morse control for that rough 19 Outrage I was restoring. We are heading up from Toronto this Saturday. If you are heading south, would be great to meet you. Otherwise, have a great trip. Thomas (Shawanaga Bay). |
