I have a 1992 Jersey sportfisherman with a teak sliding entrance door. In the last year there are some small areas on the door, and threshold that have become almost black. I have fine sanded the entire door. The blacked areas had to be sanded down to bare wood to remove the blackening. Now when I apply varnish to the entire door, the areas that were bare absorb the varnish and turn dark again and do not match the rest of the door. Is there a way to make the door look all uniform in color? Can I resand the areas that are darker and apply something to keep the bare wood from absorbing the the new varnish and getting dark again?
