O.K. Which CW member would you like to knock back a couple with and chew the fat with while Whalering, any why?

Sarcastic comments are welcome, but keep them above board and if you include them, they must be funny. For instance, if you chose binkie, you could say "because I have never seen a grown man on a Whaler in diapers"

Jeff Rohlfing, Kingfish, Jimh, Yid, Janice, Sheila, anyone sarcastic, and anyone from Jersey!

I'd include Nick but he'd drink all the damn beer.

The why? All seem like swell folk who live clean and relaxed, especially the Jersey crew: Liteamorn Themclos Tombro Bella RTK and Jim Abrams. Although Jim Abrams is old mannnn.

Sal,
I've Whalered with three of your six named Whalerers, Jimh, Jeff, and Kingfish. You've got good taste in Whalerers(is that a word). I'm also think some of my other Whaler buddies, Buckda, LHG, cdnwhaler, and Backlash without a doubt should go on anyones short list....I've been lucky enough to boat with them all....There are lot of great Whaler Owners to boat with in this area.

Others I'd like to Go Whalering with are Tony (elaelap), even though we are miles apart philisophically(is that a word?) I just know we could put all that aside and have a great time doing Whaler stuff and Clark Roberts he's got his own Navy......there are many people here I'd like to meet & Whaler with....

I'm not going to name any specific names either. I've been fortunate to have spent time in Whalers with maybe a dozen or so CW members over the years, and it's always been a blast (though I'll bet if a non-member had been a fly on the wall or a sardine in the bait box they would have thought each of us was a loony obsessive babbling away in an incomprehensible dialect about this website, its personalities, and the arcane particulars of a bunch of fiberglass watercraft).

Several of the members I've met via this forum have become more than acquaintances; hopefully lifetime friends. And I can't think of many with whom I wouldn't want to spend a day on the water, as long as we agreed in advance to the rule I try to strictly enforce in all my boats: leave contentious discussions of politics and religion on shore where they belong!

Tony

P.S. Pat, you might be very surprised at how close we are philosophically, at least where criminal justice matters are concerned. I began my legal career in the public defender's office, but I only lasted there a couple of years. I'm no fan of the death penalty, and tried my damndest without success to save a guy from it on the one capital case I assisted on, but when it comes to rapists, child molesters (especially!), con men preying on the elderly and disabled, and certain 'white collar' criminals, I bet you'd find me sharing many of your feelings. One 'strike' and you're out, permanently, no parole, to many of those worthless creeps if I had my way.

He come on Fish..
Everyone is entitled to a slip now and then..
I remember your pet Bass story and think that things can't be that permanent.
You will have well understood by now that when someone is going on record to state a personal opinion;
And soon enough turn into a dialogue;
The realistic aim if this kind of thread will have been achieved.
There is a calming reassurance into the fact that if Any and All of you Sports Fans would be broken down while towing your favorite Whaler;
I will bet that all of us fine Gentlemen and Ladies, would be there to help.
That's what it is really all about;
And not about the snide and stupid crap that we will somehow let slip out at times..
As far as I am concerned;
If all will always agree on most topics;
The place will soon enough turn into a real doze hole.

I don't know about whalering, but I sure would like to meet up with Binkie and Fourdfish on the golf course. Of course, we would have to stop by the bank on the way and fill up on dead presidents and an inventor or two. If they think my handicap was understated in an attempt to appear to be a better golfer than I am, I would be happy to increase my index to whatever they wanted to prior to teeing off.

BTW, if there are any CW golfers out there in the Washington, D.C/Annapolis area that would like to tee it up (for fun), the area has some great courses. I just spent 3 days playing Queenstown along the Chesapeake Bay...a very nice venue, and you can throw your clubs in the boat and get there by water. Several sets of bald eagles roam the course. South River and Renditions are close to my summer house.

I won't name names, but here are some or my more memorable CW member encounters:
1. Two CW members stole my boat, left me at the dock, and filled the tank with what appeared to be diesel.
2. I had to do a mid-water transfer of a CW member because another members driving skills were a little suspect.
3. A short outing cost me $600.00 because the CW member shamed me into replace all my cushions.
4. I putted around for 1 hr waiting for A CW member to have a couch delivered, got stopped and boarded by the Coast Guard, and had to explain why I was driving someone else's boat.

TA, I can`t speak for fourdfish, but as for myself, I can`t think of anything worse (well maybe clinging to an overturned boat in shark infested waters might be as bad) than spending 4 hours on a golf course with a blowhard such as yourself. You started this thread, of course, in order to gauge your popularity here. Well, I guess it seems your not very popular at all. Your all about yourself. You never help anyone. Nothing more to say.

Binks, although I invited above the board sarcasm to this thread, looking back over the responses, your 2 posts contain the only personal attacks on anyone, mainly me. Combined with your obsession about my age in another thread and you have me a bit concerned. Anyone who needs 6 or 8 screen names to solicit reaction, well, let's just say I think you would provide a good case study for Freud. LOL. Thank you for agreeing not to participate any further.

Regarding the purpose of this thread, I have met only one other CW member that I know of (WhalerAce) at my marina and enjoyed talking Temptations with him and his wife. I'd like to hear who else gets to hang out with others, nothing more.

TA, I just got off the phone with the principal of your school. He tells me you`ve been quite a problem since you turned 16. You need to buckle down, and study, and stop skipping school and taking your Dad`s Whaler out for joy rides. That's not going to get you the chicks. You need to lose 100 lbs, and develop some sort of personality where you can relate to your peers, instead of hanging around Internet forums. He also mentioned that your Dad tried to put you to work on one of his construction projects this summer, but you spent most of your time in the porta potty, writing notes on the walls. He worries about you, with good reason.

Fourdy, take note of bink's last post. I think it was sarcastic, and somewhat funny, but a little off topic. 2 out of 3 ain't bad though for an old guy.

Sorry, I can't walk 18 holes any more unless we take a looper. I've had 5 surgical procedures on my left knee stemming from college and Industrial league baseball. Last procedure they stuck some titanium bolts in to secure a new cadaver ACL. Got no cartilage left either.

P.S. Do you always extend invites through a 3rd party? Were you afraid to ask Larry directly? No wonder he said no.

You guys keep it real.

Other than Jimh I have probably met more CW members than anyone else on this board. This could be due to the fact that I started a BW club that has about 75 or so boats in it all thanks to this site.

I will say that I would like to kick back a few with anyone on this board and if you are in my neck of the woods, look me up. I will also say that I have liked everyone I have met(even Larry) with the exception of my neighbor who crashed Homosassa. The only downside is I have actually made many VERY good friends here. The reason why it is a problem is they keep drinking all my damn beer.

I have met Jimh and wife and a few others from up north, mostly I meet Floridians and surrounding staters except for Zotcha and PeteB88 because they took me up on my above offer. Funny thing is Zot is friends with a few of my friends that I grew up with...small world. I almost had Binks and Fourdy at my gigs but both bailed, one day!

Lastly(for Sal)...The scary thing and I mean SCARY is that many of the people I have befriended are FROM NJ! FNO, An86Carrera, Zotcha, BriGuy, etc. Like Craig Ferguson will say "I KNOW!!" The regulars that we do see often are REALLY a great bunch of people and goods friends if not family...a shout out to Janis & team, Frank, Len, Stefan, Smitty, Bob Kemler, Ace, Al-A-Buy, Pat, anyone else I forgot....you are ALL invited to my house anytime.

Who would I like to meet...Ritzy just so I could get totally banged up and then maybe, just MAYBE, would I be able to understand what the hell he is talking about ;)

First off;
Let's not forget what this whole topic is all about.

O.K. Which CW member would you like to knock back a couple with and chew the fat with while Whalering, any why?

The idea is sound and could become interesting.
To my point of view;
The point of chatting like this about Whaler and just lately more specifically about the personalities of the "Whaler People"
Will be seen by some as a potentially loaded subject.
Some of us will be keen on the hardware aspect of boating;
Some others will be attracted by the Outboard or power aspects.
A few will be highly motivated politically wise
And others will just be plainly bored and in need of distractions.
To meet with members will be seen as intriguing and fun.
The common ground will be Whaler oriented
It is in fortunate that we can't get a Whaler and have a draw.
It would be a perfect occasion to meet and knock back a few.
And Nick..Well what can i tell you?
I would have to take you fishing for our local Tyees for you to understand.
I could even;
If you agree;Teach you to speak some words of French so that you could have the option of looking at things from different angles.
And yes I can teach you all the swear words first.
This is of course said in jest.
Does that help you in answering your publicly voiced question Nick?

I'd like to be anchored in a harbor in a Whaler with Binkie, a cooler full of beer, and a copy of Obanma's health care plan.

Preferably it would be a Montauk. One with both bow and side rails. And surrounded by chain link as well, a cage match of sorts.

I'm sure we'd return to the dock with an empty cooler, smiling and laughing, probably with 4 black eyes but none the worse for wear.

Joe I forgot since you are from GA. There is also another NJ-ite that I can't remember as well.

Ritzy..I took 3 years of French in school and spent 2 weeks in Paris. Even if I knew Japanese I doubt it would matter :) Anytime you are down here the offer is still the same..aye!

For those unfamiliar, Homosassa is a wonderfull weekend and it gets bigger every year. We have not only taken over the entire Hotel but had others who stayed nearby or day tripped. If you want to meet about 50+ or so Whaler owners, show up this March.
