Just curious as to why my 4-cycle kicker motors seem to take longer to warmup than my 2-cycle kicker motors? Is it because of an oil sump (cold oil) or is there another reason? This trend seems to be the same with different manufacturers. I do not know if it is the same on the larger motors but in my experience with motors from 3-10hp it seems to hold true.

I would have to say yes, you have to warm the oil, the 2 stroke is a dry block once it starts then the water enters the block, another thing the 2 stroke fires more(quicker) than a 4 stroke, 2 stroke is also a quicker reving engine...take care |
