Returning from offshore last Friday. The run to the ICW from the inlet is about 3 miles of varying conditions and populations. Boat is a 35 foot Sea Hunter with twin 275 Verados. I installed the electronics. http://bluewaterpirate.phanfare.com/4619048#imageID=96747756 Tom |

Topsail inlet seems to usually be very calm, so much so that the next time I get down there with the 15' Striper I'll probably take it out of the inlet to do some drift fishing around the beach there. It's the only place I've seen so far where I'd venture into the ocean in the 15' Whaler. There's some very skinny water around there to navigate through with a 35 foot boat! |

69boo307, I'm sure you are aware that the inlet may have looked dramatically different six hours before or after the video was taken. The video was taken on an incoming tide with the flow and swell moving in the same direction. This tends to flatten the waves as they break or dissipate. The outflow can stack up to impressive heights in Bogue Inlet, which is a few miles north. I have seen some really flat hulls out on the hard bottom areas offshore. Yours is very seaworthy in comparison. Just pay close attention to conditions. Great video bluewaterpirate. It starts the itch. Dave |

Last time I had my boat there was on an incoming tide as well. Topsail inlet was like a lake, actually calmer than most lakes. I didn't venture out of the inlet that day however, and did not see it on the outgoing tide. |

Speaking of Topsail, looks like I'll head down there this friday with the 15' for some inshore Red Drum fishing! |

BWP, what kind of camera? Camcorder or still camera with video capability? HD or normal resolution? stabilized? I'm close to adding Video to the stills I take during local sailboat races and am wondering which way to go with equipment thanks, JimL |

The camera is a Canon Rebel EOS T1i in the hd video mode with auto stablization. This camera shoots great stills and videos. As to my Ventura she's waiting her turn ..... soon! Tom |

nice photos. I'm a Canon DSLR user too. do you find the lack of autofocus following, or continuous auto-refocussing, which you get with a camcorder, to be a problem in shooting video with a digital SLR? I expect this would be a problem for subjects coming at or going away from the camera, like little kids running around or a boat coming at you JimL |

Not really an issue so far ... you can see in my video there are number of instances where that happens. Tom |
