I was chatting with a Boston Whaler dealer today and he asked if I had seen the new "Sport 170". As he described, a 17' version of the 150 Sport. He inferred that the hull was somewhat different but had the basic appearance of the 170 Montauk. I haven't seen this on the www.whaler.com web site. Anyone heard of this one or got a pic? I had heard some rumblings of a new model. Perhaps the 170 SPORT is it. |

Pretty hull shape. Do not like the seating, no back rest for the helmsman? Looks very sparse and plain otherwise |

A modern day Currituck. I'll take the Currituck, thank you. |

Someday we might see Boston Whaler making party barges like Hurricane. They are slowly moving in that direction. |

Goofy looking. That profile would be fine for a run-of-the-mill glass runabout, but not a Whaler. I guess they have to get away from the classic design to "keep up," although keeping up is a step away from their roots, which were based on form following function. Soon, all boats will look the same, including Whalers, unfortunately. |

It's not for me, but I like it. It looks like a great boat for a small family interested in skiing, wakeboarding, and other water sports. |

I like the concept. Lots of seating and rigging options. And, I'm sure it will have a scuppered deck, which I consider a mandatory feature. I also like the idea of portable tanks. With today's fuels, portable tanks are going to be alot easier to maintain (dump, clean, inspect often as needed because of today's fuels). And today's modern engines don't burn that much fuel...so a 6 gallon tank can last all day in some applications. I hope this model is for real. |

I hope they offer the platform this year. I have owned a 2003 150 sport for seven years now and would be interested. The larger engine would be the biggest draw for me - I would be very interested in the performance data for this setup. |
