I was wondering where I could buy a replacement key for my console locks. I would assume a regular key would rust over time. The orginal keys seem to be brass or of some like material. The key that I have has numbers on it which like my ignition key so that you can order replacements. Are there keys to be bought out ther or should I just try a locksmith. I went to Home Depot today and they said they don't carry keys like it.

I had same problem when I tried to get an ignition key copied at Home Depot. Go to your neighborhood locksmith, he should be able to copy the key for about $2.00.

I don't worry too much about theft. If you're in the same boat, (pun intended), when my key or lock core start to go wonky on me, I break out Jim's OMC switch diagram and put the appropriate wires from the lock cylinder to some high quality toggle switches, with weatherproof rubber boots over them: an on-off for ignition, and a momentary-on, for primer/choke, and another just like it for starter. Works like a champ... on my carbureted OMC's anyway.
