Not mine, and no interest in buying it. Just interested in the cool, functional design: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ BOSTON-WHALER-BOAT-22-CITY-SAN-DIEGO-LIFEGUARD-/ 330444695823?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Power_Motorboats& hash=item4cf009e90f#ht_558wt_883 Tony |

Uh, you sure it's a gun mount and not a back rest for a standing operation? |

Hi Tony- I like all the open space at the stern to fish from, but that forward helm looks like it would shorten my spine by a couple of inches in rough water. Plus I'd probably get tired of having the wind in my teeth all the time. But I agree, it's a cool-looking mod. Tim |

I believe that this was the Whaler that capsized and rolled in the surf earlier this year at the harbor entrance in San Diego, MissionPoint/Pacific Beach area. They were trying to rescue a crew of 5 from a 29 foot Defiance Pilot house that had rolled in the surf during a fishing tournament. I believe that 1 rescue Whaler was able to get in and save several of the guys and the other rescue Whaler got rolled in the surf I assume the motor was trashed on the one that rolled so they are selling that hull but I do not know that for certain. An interesting read from the Captain of the Defiance along with some pictures on post 1 and post 42(page 5 I think). |

Fishmore- I am pretty certain you are correct. The "bra" in the front is where lifeguards tuck as they enter big rollers and break waves. The guy who owned the Defiance was a local Parker and Contender dealer in San Diego and I met him at the boat show there one year with a few other CW'ers when we were in town. ARROGANT. He talked complete trash about current Whalers in comparison with the Parkers. I like Parkers, they are popular in So Cal and I examined a few thoroughly. They have some fit and finish lackings. He knew his prop was fouled and continued is some extraordinarily rough seas that day. (Sheila's husband Rich came in the same channel one year, in similar seas, and I wish I had the photo.) That channel is treacherous on the wrong days, I have been there in my former Montauk and my current Outrage. He made terrible decisions and the Lifeguard service in San Diego paid with their The guys on board with him were lucky to be alive. |

Hmm, a word is missing from my post. In the final sentence it should read "and the Lifeguard service in San Diego paid with their rig". |

Rich- Thanks for posting, that is an unforgettable shot. I was there over Memorial Day and surf and weather reports called for 2-4 ft. mixed swells. We got out of the channel OK but were not out very far or for very long when it flipped like a light switch and suddenly we were in 6-7+ swells. I thought about this photo and turned back and ran for home. They just added 130 ft. to the jetty to try to minimize days like these. I believe they intend to dredge the channel next. |
