[This article contained no text but only a hyperlink to a Candian boating news website that had an article about the announcement from Mercury of a new model of FLO-TORQ hub with the model name REFLEX which is apparently intended to reduce the annoying clutch rattle noise that occurs with certain Mercury engines and propeller combinations. The FLO-TORQ REFLEX hub appears to be targeted specifically to Mercury outboards with the standard gear case and 40 to 60-HP when used with Mercury propellers that require a FLO-TORQ hub--jimh.]

Is there any reason to upgrade [to the new Mercury FLO-TORQ REFLEX hub] from the Flo-Torq III, which was also supposed to reduce vibration and shift clunk?

[The FLO-TORQ REFLEX hub] is for smaller motors. I believe [unknown acronym, possibly means FLO-TORQ III] is for Bigfoot 60hp and up.

What other motors require [specialized torsional connectors between the propeller and the propeller shaft to reduce the gear shift KLUNK and propeller rattle problem]? Seems like [Mercury] is the only culprit?

Pat -- You can use the Flo-Torq cushioned hub kits on any motor. None require it.

The new FLO-TORQ REFLEX appears to be a much simpler device than the previous designs which included some sort of torsional connector in the coupling between propeller shaft and propeller. In the view below, it appears that there are many small coupling splines that carry the torque between the shaft and propeller, and the splines are simply molded into the part. This should mean a lower cost. I do not see any mention of price so far, but I expect the FLO-TORQ REFLEX should be less expensive than some of the prior designs.
