Not my best work. Running the boat is more fun than taking pictures of the boat or from the boat.

New motor on a 1983 15' Sport.

Sitting on the buoy. It still does not sit very level, but I do not want to put weight back in the bow. The battery is in the stern and there is 14 gallons of gas under the helm bench.

Is this a 13? It looks so small.

A busy interior 13.

An old boat, but it sure floats high.

My boat with a 250# Evinrude sits similar to that. I wouldn't add any weight to level it out. IMO its fine.

I concur, leave the weight out. Here is a picture of the boat with the old motor on it and i am guessing at least a 100 pounds in the bow locker.

Looks good. Why did you replace the evinrude?

I moved the battery in mine to under the console & it helped the stearn squat. By redoing the wire harness & changing the engine cables, this also cleaned up the stearn area. If you want to go high tech, a gel-cell group 24 will last longer & handle the vibration. Just a thought. Great looking boat/engine combination.

Looks great!
I think it carries the weight very well.
Not much different from my Super Sport with a 200# 40 horse (and the family).

What is the top speed? Must fly with the F70!

The Evinrude pooped, it had a pretty hard life. It is a shared boat and it had a teenage driver who just does not give a rip about busting stuff up. It sits on tide flats at low tide and the motor has been left down, it will support the boat by the way, more than once.

I have yet to get someone with me in it with a GPS so no speed trials yet.

Sweet, John. Only thing I might be a little concerned about is the bottom of the motor resting in the water full time while the boat's on a mooring. We keep our partnership Revenge 21 prototype ('Strike3') in a salt water slip 9-10 months per year, and fortunately the motors -- main and kicker -- are both entirely dry when tilted all the way up. It would probably be a much greater potential problem re corrosion for us in a slip than you at a mooring, especially if our slip is electrically "hot." Still, if it were me I'd add some weight up forward and get that new motor totally out of the water.

Can't wait to see some specs. You boat is going to FLY.

Tony

P.S. What sort of a cover do you use for the motor? We use a hefty barbeque cover which protects both the main and kicker motors at the same time...but hardly looks Mills OE ;-)

No cover for the motor is used. I might have to look into that. The whole package is out of the water when the tide is out. It handles so well now as is that I am contemplating moving the battery forward and buying a new fuel tank that will fit under the forward bench.

Here's a shot of our strange looking 1973 BW with that barbecue cover protecting her two motors (Suzuki DF140 and Nissan 6 hp four stroke kicker). You can see from all the gunk in the slip why we like to have our motors tilted all the way up and dry. Ignore the strange looking guy to starboard holding a 24 pound halibut...I have no idea how he weaseled his way into this photo.

Tony

P.S. And how about the rest of our boat's "Mills" canvas?

PS...most outboards today you can adjust how high or low they tilt, look into it.
