CARL WILLIAM FISCHER Sr. | Visit Guest Book

Carl William Fischer, Sr, 73, of DeLand, passed away on October 15, 2010 at the Volusia /Flagler Hospice Care Center in Orange City. Carl was born on Nov. 11, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to the area in 1952. He graduated from Eustis High School in 1955, attended the University of Florida and Stetson University. He served in the Army Intelligence in Frankfort, Germany at the time the Berlin Wall was built. Carl and his family have owned and operated Hontoon Marina in DeLand for over 50 Years. He was a member of the Lake Beresford Yacht Club, Lake Beresford Water Association and the Orlando Marine Trade Association. Carl enjoyed boating and fishing, and a special love of the Bahamas, especially Green Turtle Cay in the Abacos. Visiting over the past 50 years he also sponsored the Boston Whaler Bahamas Rendezvous. He was the 3rd Boston Whaler dealer in the country and had a love of boating and the industry.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Virginia Teeguarden Fischer and William Fischer. He is survived by his wife of 51 yrs, Marilyn; daughter, Jeanne Fischer of DeLand; son and daughter-in-law, Carl jr. and Pam Fischer of Gainesville; and son, John Fischer of DeLand; and his grandchildren, Kyle, Nicole, and Kendal; and his sister, Elizabeth Pieper. A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand, FL. A funeral service will be Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at St. Peters Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at DeLand Memorial Gardens in DeLand, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carl's name to St Peters Catholic Church, 359 W. New York Ave., DeLand, FL 32720, DeLand or Hospice of Volusia Flagler County, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Online condolences may be left for the family at allensummerhillfuneralhome .com. Arrangements are in the care of Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home DeLand, FL.

Janis sorry about your loss. I know it is tough to lose family and a good friend. I will send an online condolence. I have kept my boat there a few times, etc.

I met Carl way back in the early '60's and enjoyed our friendship over the years. He was a real gentleman and will be missed by all. Sincerely, Clark
