[I] bought my [Evinrude E-TEC 90-HP outboard engine] today. It's a brand new [model year 2009] and I paid $6,900. [I am] going to take up Buckda on helping install it. [I] also have an old fishing buddy who works in service at Pier 33. If I can get the controls and whatever is necessary for less than $1,600 I will make out. Sounds like a perch dinner at Clementines for Dave. Leaders will also certify the installation for no charge. Came with a three-year warranty.

Let me know when you are doing the install. I can always add another set of hands. Also, I'm about two miles north of Leaders.Terry |

You're gonna love that motor! I finally got some time (and weather) to make it to the lake yesterday. It was the first time I'd seen my boat in two months. backed her down the ramp, and fired up the 90 E-TEC, fired on the first crank, instantly, no smoke, just sweet idle. Didn't have enough time to go for a ride, I should have made time for a quick fishing trip, but couldn't swing it. Enjoy a great motor, and a great price (they're worth every penny!)--k |

Meridian--thanks for the offer. Don't you have an E-TEC 90 on your boat? I thought I saw a picture of a gorgeous Montauk. I look forward to trolling for four hours on the fuel I used to burn in one hour, 0.17-GPM vs. 0.8-GPM [gallon-per-mile?]. Probably looking at doing the installation [in] late February or early March. |

Fuel burn on the E-TEC at idle speed is very good due to the stratified charge technique used in the combustion chamber. I have never seen fuel economy expressed as gallons-per-mile.When you write that you used to get 0.8-GPM, that converts to the more familiar expression of miles per gallon as 1.25-MPG. I don't know what sort of motor you were using for trolling before, but 1.25-MPG is certainly terrible fuel economy. When you write that you expect the new E-TEC 90-HP engine to consume fuel at a rate of 0.17-GPM, this translates to 5.8-MPG. From my own experience with a much larger engine, a 3.3-liter 225-HP E-TEC, I can tell you that at trolling speeds your fuel economy should be much better. I get more than 15-MPG at slow speed from E-TEC. I think you will see a fuel flow rate of about 0.15-gallon-per-hour with the E-TEC 90-HP engine. In other words, you could troll for almost seven hours on one gallon of fuel.

My boo boo. The old 100 Johnson used 0.8 gallon/hour [versus] 0.17 gallon/hour for the [E-TEC]. |

Great price. [A] 2010 Yamaha F70 with tiller cost me $9,200 [including Washington state] sales tax, installed. I was not bargain hunting, needed a motor ASAP. |

With my E-TEC on the Montauk I see about 25-MPG at 5.5-MPH on the display at idle in gear. On the 15-footer I used to see 35-MPG with same motor, different propeller.Len |
