Hi

I need to get a boston whaler (approx 21 years old) surveyed in Maine. Does anyone know someone they can recommend who has familiarity with these boats?

Thanks

David

Maine is a very big state. Can you be more specific about the boat's location?

The boat is located in Saco, Maine.

Contact Dave Stevenson at York Harbor Marine.

They are a great Whaler dealer who hosted a group of us a few years ago.

He may know a few that are local.

I agree with Phil. Dave Stevenson left at the end of last season but his replacement is John Lusty. Great guy and I am sure he will be able to suggest a more than capable surveyor.

I could take some detailed digital photos if you would like.(for free) I travel through Saco once per week. I can snap some photos and email you them.

I suggest you talk to Phil Tyson.

Thanks for all the replies. This weekend I travelled from Long Island to Cape Cod to look at an outrage 18 that I had been assured was in excellent condition. It turned out that the boat was in terrible condition and the seller had sent me photos of another boat in much better condition. The pictures had been taken from this site.

A simple visual inspection by someone local is really helpful to weed out the most egregious frauds before worrying about a professional inspection.

I know two members who are local who may be able to look at it if you are in a jamb. Let us know if York Harbor Marine came through or not.

Thanks again for the help but the boat was sold before I was able to organize for someone to see it. It seemed to be a pretty good deal. It is difficult to buy at a distance.
