Author Topic:   Best way to store second anchor on 235 Conquest

I recently purchased a 235 Conquest (I already had a 130 Sport, and an older Outrage 19--I'll sell the Outrage soon) to have a dryer, more stable boat to take the family on the water with me. When we go to the outlying islands here in Georgia, I always take two anchors to anchor the boat off the beach. The Conquest has a bow pulpit for the main anchor, and I've been stowing a second Danforth anchor and rode in the anchor locker, but the lines tend to get tangled and I don't like the idea of the danforth bouncing around in the locker. Does anyone have a good idea for storing a second anchor?

I took some old large foam “puzzle” floor pieces (sorry not sure of the correct product name) that you see used on gym/kids floors, cut them larger than the anchor, punched a few holes in both sides and zip-tied them together to form a pouch for the anchor to sit in – I just use a Velcro strap for the line. Works very well for a smaller anchor I have, you just need to periodically check on and replace the ties.

Thanks, jolly. That sounds like a good idea

Take a look at http://www.garlic.com/~triblet/whaler/ ,
about 80% of the way down. Would that bucket trick help to
keep one of the two anchor lines stowed.

If you are beaching to unload, one neat trick I've seen is
to use a bungee cord for the stern line. You drop the stern
hook, power up to the beach to unload, then let the bungee
pull the boat back and stick the bow anchor on dry land.

Here's what I use as a rode for the stern anchor to keep the boat off a beach without surf. works great for a 5 lb danforth type which is throwable.

Our boat weighs about 4,000 lbs.

easy to stow.

If this link doesn't work the product is a buddy anchor line which works like a large easily stretched bungee.
