Today on the return trip from Ocracoke our Ventura/225 Opti logged their 4000th underway hour since we purchased them in 2002. They've been put to the test in every imaginable condition and always brought us home safely.

Thanks to the folks at Whaler and Mercury.

Some video ......

I made the trip solo my wife has been out town on business.

Tom, congrats on that service record! I hope to get half those hours with the 225 Verado on our Ventura 210, and am on the way with 640 engine hours thus far.
Great boats!

I really enjoy your video's, you have got it down to an art.
Its great you shoot back at the boats wake to give an idea of the speed your doing.
In the future perhaps you might include a few shots of the captain in action with some audio describing the surrounds.

I live on an expansive bay of water in Melbourne Australia. It's 20-30 miles wide and about 50 long. Its totally different to the interesting safe water way you show in your video's. All that glassy water, the sort stuff we can only dream of.

In our waters we are aware our bay is shallow. It's often windy about 15 and builds to 20 knots mostly, but then somedays a sudden change can come in at 30 knots plus, conditions quickly change and things become dangerous within minutes. You have to make your way home in a 6 foot short chop. Not fun!!!

I'am hoping my recently aquired 21' Conquest (similar to your boat) currently being put back together after the long trip to Aus. should be able to iron out the local chop.

In the mean time I look forward to your next show.

Love the video. It is nice to see other members areas of enjoyment.

Here on the Gulf of Mexico we have those very few days of glass. Those are the days to make a run off shore or go exploring.

Thanks for the video.

[Made absurd deductions on sound levels based on watching video, and used them to try to start a peeing contest with owners of other brands. Please don't post nonsense like that here. It just gets deleted--jimh]

They sound great as twins! I found owning an older version and now a pair of new models it's amazing how different the two sound. Along with other changes the exhaust has been modified and the engine cowling/cover has been redesigned to make the engine more quiet as well lighter. At idle they still won't compete with a Four stroke but at higher speeds I don't think you would be able to tell.

4000 hours says a lot. Hard to ask more of any outboard. Thanks for the great video links

Great video

Just a couple of questions.

Did you depart from and return to Little Washington? The RR bridge and boat ramp kinda look familar.

What kind of camera did you use?

Tom,

Congratulations on the milestones for both the boat and the motor. Great pictures and videos as always.

Congratulations Tom, 4000hrs is a true testament that shows how long these engines can last if they are well maintained and loved.

I recall that you already have another Optimax in a create ready to go if this one goes? What prop are you using with your Ventura?

bluewaterpirate - The non-fly by wire model of the F250 is pretty cheap these days. That's what I have on my Outrage 21. It flys.

I wish I had the new F300 but that's a lot more expensive and I would have to re-wire the boat.

I have followed your pics and videos on here and other forums and like them a lot.

Except that you are a pirate as in an ECU pirate I think and I am a Gamecock. Maybe I will see you in Charlotte in September.
