I've always wondered how frequent and under what circumstances Whaler honored the 10 Year Hull Guarantee.
If anyone experienced a Hull Warranty event either in the capacity of a customer/owner, Whaler employee or over heard stories around the dock while marinating ice cubes, please share

Don't want to say there has been a bunch but I know the 82 or so 18' had MANY hull warranties and many were replaced in 1986 or so. You can tell because they have the old style console on a 1986/87 hull. My hulls are bewteen 36 and 31 years old and there is nothing on them trhat could be warrantied even after that many years...unless they covered rubrails that are brittle and faded.

I have a friend that had a 25' Guardian about a dozen years ago that needed warranty work. Whaler wanted the hull brought in to their facility in Florida and the boat was here in Texas. While they were going back and forth he had a local guy that only works on Whalers do the work. He had to hire a maritime attorney...also a friend...to get them to pay on the bill. Whaler did make it right but it was like pulling teeth.

It's important to realize that the 10 year warranty is a declining value warranty. The coverage, I believe, begins to decline around year three. Read your warranty to ensure you understand the coverage. During year ten the value is about 10% if I remember correctly.
