I saw this while looking through Yachtworld listings for whalers; it really caught my eye. It looks like a top quality job from what you can see in the pictures. The sellers comments: |

I saw this while looking through Yachtworld listings for whalers; it really caught my eye. It looks like a top quality job from what you can see in the pictures. The sellers comments: "Outrage 21 restauro da concorso!!" I am not sure I would consider this a concourse restoration, but I wouldn't turn down an afternoon touring the Venice waterways in it. I wonder why they didn't do a teak deck after going to so much effort? http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1976/Boston-Whaler-Outrage-21-2390801/ Roma/Italy |

I'm impressed. Very intriguing teak deck addition within the deck channels. Not so sure about the teak deck / door into the storage compartment. Would be a bitch to crawl in and retrieve anything. Don |

Tohsgib, You are correct in noting the boat's vintage can't be 1976. My intention was to provide a link to redirect the reader off-site to view the seller’s advertisement. I felt it best to copy the seller's heading exactly to avoid any confusion when following the URL link (despite the error). Moreover, as you indirectly pointed out, there is no way to know the correct vintage from the information provided by the seller so I could not have provided the correct year. Though technically more correct, I chose not to write: “Custom 1976 21' in Italy. [sic]” because some readers are unaware of the convention that “[sic]” when added just after a quote or reprinted text, indicates the passage appears exactly as in the original source. The usual purpose is to inform readers that any errors or apparent errors in the copied material are not from transcription — that they are reproduced exactly from the original writer or printer. Moreover, the seller’s use of the word “concourse” indicated to me the high degree of pride he or she has in their boat and I was concerned some readers might incorrectly infer my use of the bracketed sic as a form of ridicule or as a humorous comment, by drawing attention to the original writer's mistakes. This was not my intention at all; it was my intention to both celebrate and the result and appreciate what must have been a monumental effort in both time and money. |
