After the re-power, I feel like I can take this boat anywhere, weather permitting. The F70 is perfect on this hull. You can just feel the sweet spot, turn the boat using the trim, it's dry, fast, quiet, I am in love. The boat http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9536-1.jpg The water conditions for many days at a time. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9366.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9367.jpg My new favorite destination, the very cool, formerly private, Vendovi Island. The caretaker has a Whaler so I felt a bond.

You guys definitely have some very beautiful places up there for boating, totally different landscape from what I grew up in/use to. Thanks for the photos.... |

That's so similar to the south island of New Zealand or the south-west coast of Tasmania. |

I've often commented to my compadre when departing and arriving Seatac, that if the mean water temperature of the Puget Sound was 78 DegF instead of 48 DegF, it would be the most expensive and populated real estate in the world. Absolutely LOVELY. Thanks for sharing. -Peter |

Whenever I see one of John's posts with photos I say to myself, "Ah, another screen-saver or two to steal." I've yet to be disappointed. Thanks as usual; I miss the San Juans. Tony |

What is the top speed with the F70? I had a 15 sport in high school with a 48hp Evinrude. My old man wouldn't get me the 70hp Yamaha that I wanted. |

I got the same 15 Sport I had in high school. We did have a 70 2 Stroke. It would fly. Then we got ride of it, after about 10 years. Got a 60 2 Stroke. Blew up lower unit after about 10 years. Got an F60 now, wish it was the F70. Still fast top end but no torque. |

Thanks for the positive feedback. The Sport on Tom's island. My boating apparel, Carhartt, SOS suspenders, dork hat, shorts with my legs in a seat canvas while traveling, cold beer in the knapsack and my rusty but trusty camera. Nothing better. Top speed according to a TOM TOM taped to the console, 42mph with an aluminum prop. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9568.jpg Bad news Tom, people are camping on your island. How is Barnes doing? http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9571.jpg Where did all the sand come from? Quite rare up here to have a sandy beach. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9589.jpg For you Tony, when jellyfish and kaleidoscopes marry. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9747.jpg Watched the purse seiners for a while, quite boring, nothing in the purse. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9638.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9652.jpg On the way to Bellingham inside Governors Point, I found another little paradise that I was unaware of. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9473.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9484.jpg Stopped by Eliza, not a Whaler in the bay but a cool old Chris. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d137/jmartin-/DSCF9393.jpg I better get back to work. T think I hold about 15 gallons. Right now I am in the barn, kind of taken apart. We should get together next year for a cruise. John |

Agreed! I just swapped out the cotten/canvas cover for the rubberized water proof cover on the boat. A sign of the times huh:( I carry two 6 gallon fuel tanks. I really need to get a custom fuel tank installed under the seat. Custom because my seat sits too low I think. The lowest market one I have found is 1/2 inche too tall. |
