Is anyone planning to attend this show? I wonder if BW will be unveiling any of the new designs here. I’d like to get a close up look at the new 170 dauntless. Here’s a link to the show:

They are advertising the world’s largest indoor lake that you apparently can go boating on. I presume just small craft…

Boston Whaler has not used the Toronto boat show as the venue for introduction of new designs in the past. Typically Boston Whaler has used the New York Boat Show or the Miami International Boat Show as the venue to introduce new products.

After our informal census of Whalers on the Georgian Bay trip last summer, Whaler ought to put more emphasis on the Canadian market.

I plan on attending this year.
In recent past years the large lake has been filled with boats, for a small 'in water' boat show. Previoulsy though, they have had exhibitions in the lake with jet-skis, sailboats (dinghys) and waterskiing stuff.

Is the boat show a good place to find a motor for re-powering? Planning on attending and hoping for a deal.

I decided to go to the show this year and I took some photos of thw whalers they had onhand:

130, 150, 170 Super Sport

150, 170, 210 Montauk

180, 230 Dauntless

190, 280 Outrage

255, 285 Conquests

I thought it was odd they didn't have a 190 Montauk or a midsize outrage on hand; they had room for 1-2 more boats.

Interestingly, none of the whalers on hand had sold. Lots of other manufacturers were selling boats. Stanley boats, a super-premium class of welded aluminum work and recreation boats sold every boat they had on display and took orders for a few more.

I had an opportunity to eavesdrop on a conversation between an assistant to the show promoter, and a reporter covering the boat show. The promoter was telling the reporter how sales of smaller boats during the show were way up from last year. Larger boats sales were up somewhat also. He estimated some 534 boats were sold show-wide going into this weekend.

I avoided taking pictures of boats generally available in the states unless something caught my eye. I really liked the lines and finish quality of the Limestone boats, but I didn't have an opportunity to really investigate their build quality.

I also liked the lines of the Rossiter boats but after viewing the videos of them underway, I left their display somewhat unimpressed. To my eye, they seemed to porpoise a lot underway.

What a sweet looking 23 Chris Craft, I'll take one...

Near the end of the show, I came across Stanley welded-aluminum boats. No paint, no frills, but they look like they are built like tanks. The hulls are formed from 3/16” - ¼” aluminum. I really liked the 16 tiller steer boat. Looks like a great boat for winter river fishing here on the Niagara River.

There is a growing market for electric boats as a number of lakes in the Quebec area are now carbon-free propulsion waterways. The Bruce boats were really quite innovative. powered by battery and motor, they provide the equivalent of 183 gasoline hp and 200-300 lbs weight savings over an engine and full fuel tank. The buider sold both his display models and had taken orders for 3 more.

I tried to snap some other pictures of items that have been recently discussed in some of the forums, hope you enjoy:
