I was just curious how much I posted compared to other people. At 0.12 posts per day I need to pick it up a bit. My numbers are not exact but basically I took the number of posts in my profile and divided it by about the number of days I have been a member.

I have always tried to follow the idea of you have two ears and one mouth so you should listen twice as much as you speak. So maybe that is why I am lagging behind.

I picked these names from a recent thread I was involved in and then I thought it would be interesting to do the numbers on some of the guys who I notice on the site more often.

OK maybe I had to much time on my hands tonight.

I crunched some numbers in December (also after having too much time on my hands one day), using Excel to automatically compile user stats.

My posts are pretty low, but I definitely read here much more than I post.

John,

Quantity should never come before quality. Thoughtful well, written posts always provide the most value to the community.

I have to agree with you Jeff.
Posting just to post wastes everyones time.

It is a good thing we cannot get the stats on how many times we each visit the site. I really don't think I want to know how much time I am on the site when I should be doing something else.

This is an informational website about Boston Whaler boats. Folks who start threads, and add posts to existing threads are the backbone of this whole deal. Of course the threads and posts need to be interesting and informational so all of us can learn more about our Whalers. Folks who only say they read but seldom posts are only taking and not giving back. But thats OK too, becuase as you learn more about Whalers, you will be inclined to give back too. No one knows everything, everyone can learn. That is the general purpose. Of course its entertainment too. LOL.

I for one read more than I post. Normally I figure if I put my two cents in, it might as well be worth something rather than nonsense babble.

Speaking of which.... blahblahblahblahblahblah.

Have a nice day!

Bink: Good thread, I like reading and posting if I can help (Just can't help it). I'm currently working on two boats one mine and one for a friend. I like reading the threads for new ideas and it helps me think of a new ways or a new method, or even another way to do something. Good example was the lifting ring for outboards, got a lot of input, some guys learn something, some guys made jokes, got ideas from lifting straps to a crane, bottom line the question was answered and the engine removal project moved forward.... To each his own

If Jimh had an edit function you could knock my posts down by 2/3rd's.

Sorry about the last post...I started out just ribbing you but it got a tad drawn out.

I think we should take Binkster's last post and make it a banner on the top of the web site.

And maybe add Sal's if you can't say something nice don't say anything quote.

Good on ya!

Actually, the rule jimh made for me is I have to run all my posts by him first before I can post. Only about 40% make it through his screen, but I'm trying harder. I'm not allowed to talk about politics, religion, or encourage gnr.

Some of the best responses I have ever written were, upon reflection and a second thought, deleted just before I was going to hit SUBMIT REPLY.
