I will easily go out on a limb here in thanking Lois and Harry
For having farmed out to me in the Great White North
A magnificent set of custom made cushions.
The will be counted as
A 94 QTS cooler cushion in Parchment and brown piping
And a set of console rod holder cushions matching the seat.
I did enjoy chatting with Harry and will have thanked him for his consideration, his efficient knowledge and his fair pricing.
I have understood that the firm will be closing it's doors shortly.
Thank you for the great work done on my behalf.
My Classic Outrage 19 will be truly enjoying the addition of those elegant hand made products.
Thank You, Halls Nautical and Cushions.
I was glad that I did...get to know You Folks.

Regards,

CPT Ritz.

Any word on when they're closing? I thought I'd seen on here months ago that they were closing, but haven't seen anything else and their website speaks nothing of it. I need new cushions for the Montauk, but continuously procrastinate.

As good ole Harry was telling me the other day on the phone.
They are not taking or making new orders anymore.

Regret I procrastinated, should have got some new cushions while I was in Florida.

They are not taking orders, other than to buy bulk materials that they have on hand.

A big thank you from me too. Earlier this spring my new cooler cushion and rod holder cushions arrived for my 1988 Outrage 20. Last year Halls made me cushions for my bow steps. Their work is top notch! They will be missed.

We got to meet them both last year and they made us a bow cushion and rebuilt my rear quarter seats. It was great to meet them and they had the Montauk at the Homassassa bash and were awesome to work with. Lois said they were going to shut it down and they did - we'll miss them.

They made me a new RPS cushion, cooler cushion and a custom cushion for my soon to be constructed stern seat. It all arrived a few weeks ago, and I'm blown away by the quality. Nice folks to work with too.

Apparently, I got the LAST item they constructed. It arrived, looking as awesome as anything else I got from them in the past.

I had a hardware question and spoke with Harry today. In our discussion, he relayed the following:

The long time supplier for the vinyl decided that they would not supply it further, due to low demand.

The vendor who did the heat seal, which provided the pleats/seams in the upper or finished part of the cushions, would no longer would do the 1", only 1 and 1/2".

Harry simply was not getting enough orders to continue, so he "took a day job".

This is heartbreaking to me. Small business owners are the backbone, nuts and bolts of American society. Yes, I acknowledge the role of big business, in the 50's, 60's and 70's, for some of our prosperity.

The fact that a niche shop, with a dedicated audience, can't make it says a lot. Sure, you can buy a cheap Igloo Marine cooler cushion, but they are crap, don't last long, aren't as comfortable and don't match. In my experience, cheap is rarely a better deal.

You can't get this again, folks, and it is a shame that we did not provide the business to support their viability.

THANK YOU HALLS NAUTICAL. We will not see the skill, integrity, quality, product knowledge and customer service you provided, again.

Did you ask if they still had any bulk material left?

like others have posted, I also missed a chance to get Halls cushions made for my Outrage 19. Who else can make cushions for Whaler boats?

Don,

I believe they only have some 1.5" pleated materiel left.

kgregg,

The last OEM source for cushions is Anderson's Manufacturing.

www.andersonmfg.biz/1

Specialty Marine makes cushions that are similar to the OEM Whaler items but, some have reported the quality is not inline with Halls or Anderson's quality.

I believe Halls has a limited supply of the 1.5" pleated, parchment vinyl, as Jeff mentioned. I am not sure on the piping material/supply.

Specialty Marine does not come close to the caliber of the cushions provided by Halls, though they have improved quite a bit, in terms of selection. They now have wood products. Their cooler cushions now come in a color close to parchment but do not have the contrasting brown piping and their white cushions do not have the contrasting black piping.

Their rear bench seats do not have the rear rail support for the gunwhales.

I have heard complaints about their chrome and SS products. I noticed they have a lot of items marked down. Perhaps with enough feedback from classic Whaler owners, they can step it up a bit in quality.

They will not sell from their brick and mortar location in VIsta, CA, which I found strange. Shipping only.

I called Halls last week for an update on an order I placed back in March, their voicemail indicated they still were taking orders for 1 1/2 inch parchment.

As for product quality and customer service, Halls is second to none. Just received my bow cushion, 2 94qt cushions, and leaning post cushion for my 22 Outrage WD in 1 1/2 inch with brown piping. I also ordered a few yards of 1 1/2 inch parchment back in March for a re-upholstering project on my full width stern seat. Harry advised me on numerous occasions over the spring on how much I'd need and the best way to use the material for the project. Great people, sad to see them close
