Some photos of my almost complete "restoration" of my 'new to me' Newtauk. Hoping to launch this week after the engine is raised and a few other small things are finished up. I'll follow up with some performance numbers . Thanks to eveyone who helped out with the process.

Hi Jamie, That is the best looking Newtauk ever made :) Nice restoration. I look forward to seeing her near Pine Island. Should not be too much longer... Stephen |

Thanks Jeff. I custom ordered an aluminum tank from Mirax. It is 28 gallons. I had them powder-coat it desert tan. |

Nice boat, good work. The carbied Yammie 2 strokes in the 70-90hp range are possibly my favourite outboard motors around, if you look after it it will look after you. They are virtually bulletproof if you warm them up, treat them sensibly, service them and flush them (run in freshwater if used in saltwater) and run the fuel out of the carbies (disconnect fuel line and run motor until motor stops) Is that an OEM leaning post ? It looks light a great set up for light tackle sport fishing. The coverboards look great with the flush mount rod holders. The tank looks great too. I would be careful to avoid getting nicks in the powder coating, which could possibly lead to localised pitting corrosion of the aluminium, I am not sure which grade of aluminium was used but it would hopefully be a grade suitable for marine use. I think marine grade aluminium is supposed to develop a basically "self-protecting" oxide layer, which prevents further oxidation/corrosion - provided there are no more inert or noble metals present. |

Great boat and set up nice for fishing. Consider raising the motor up one hole. I did this on my Newtauk last year and the performace was noticeable. |

Newtauk1, I think I am going to raise the engine to the top hole. |

Jamie...i talked to the guy and the epoxy work should be done this week and then I can get you the pics of the hatch. Rednecks down here don't move very quickly. |

Really nice looking boat. I like the leaning post setup a lot; rod holders are awesome!! upholstery and teak look great. I would like to get the newtauk decals in red. Have you thought about a bait tank between the leaning post and the motor? I have an '88 Newtauk as well, love that boat. The wide gunwales are priceless. Low rails, windscreen etc... coming up on 10 years. Great Job!! |
