Drift Card

Saw this again, first time in years, on another island I got to using a Whaler.

You should follow the instructions on the Drift Card and let us know what you find out from the originator of the Drift Card.

So, these drift cards are screwed to a piece of wood and then let go out in the ocean?

The card is most like from one of the many studies Curtis Ebbesmeyer started looking at ocean (and Puget Sound) circulation.

He also has provided information to this whaler forum regarding a drifting whaler hull, in e Cetcea section.
By the look of the card and the material used, the one you found is fairly old but has not been in the water for a long time.

The Drift Card is hanging on a wall in the shop building on Vendovi Island in the Pacific NW.
