Hello I an new to this site and to Whalers in general. I am in the Market for a tender/toy to use with my houseboat on inland rivers.
There is a Very Nice mid 90's 11' super sport 30hp near me for sale. What concerns me is the published capacity and swamp weights for the 11. Are these accurate. I am a big guy ( 6'3 275) and with my weight, the wife, fuel, etc should I pass on the 11 and look for a 13.

I appreciate all opinions and thanks for the reply's.

Dave

I have both - not quite your size but 220. I can sit on the edge of my 11.5 and cast for bass and no problem. We love the 11.5 but 13 too. My 11.5 is tiller control and standard - no console. We had a ton of fun with that boat - but if you are asking advice I'd go 13 unless you had reasons for the 11.5. that is 13 with power tilt. 30 HP is a lot of power for that boat - I'd be thinking that over especially if you are going to let kids run it. Also - weight could be an issue.

There are plenty of guys on this forum way more knowledgable than I am.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply Pete. Your post makes me feel better about the 11.
I have zero time in either, looking to buy a whaler based on reputation and the wife saw the 11 and thought it was ( Cute as hell) and better than the RIB we have now.

Boat will be adults only. Used for exploring, back to marina for ice or to pick or drop off guests, etc. Most of the time it will be stored on top of the houseboat until needed.

You'll like it - Tiller or console? That 30 will make it go like hell, Caution chine walk and it will turn like a slot car if you don't stay on top of it at WOT- you won't need WOT. You could tow barges with that sucker.

I missed mid-90s which could mean post classic model? Not up on all the models but if post classic that is a different boat than Classic 11.5s

Not sure of exact year but it is a classic model. Has console, freshly redone wood, bimini, depth finder, cover, seat cushions, trailer. I have to go look at it again for more details.

Currently owned by older lady. I told them a while back that if they ever wanted to sell call. Husband died and she called. Any thought's on approximate value? Not looking to steal it, willing to pay what it's worth.
