In June I sold my 2004 190 Nantucket and bought a 2006 205 Conquest. I'm really liking this boat, including the fancy Verado on the back. I'm getting ready to change the oil and found some confusion in the Mercury Operation Manual. On page 100 of the manual, Changing Oil, drain method step 1: Tilt outboard up to the trailer position. Step 2: Turn the outboard so that the drain hole is facing downward. OK, now on page 33, Trailering Boat/Outboard, trailer your boat boat with the outboard tilted down in a vertical operating position. With the outboard tilted down, there is no way to point the drain hole down. Any thoughts or comments?

Congratulations on the new Boston Whaler. Those now-discontinued 205 CONQUEST or 205 EASTPORT models are a very nice small, cabin, trailerable boat.

You tilt the motor up and turn the steering wheel so the drain is pointed down.

However, after you drain the bulk of the oil, tilt it back down close to vertical. See if you get some more oil draining out. My 90 hp four stroke still holds about half a quart of oil when tipped up. The manual also suggested that a rag should be held under the oil filter while removing it. If you idled the motor to warm it up as suggested, the filter will be full of oil. You need to overachieve with the rags or you will have oil in the lower cowling.

Ok thanks guys, that's how I did it on my last engine. The manual just had me confused with the "tilt to trailer position " part. And thanks jimh. It is a nice little cabin boat.I noticed Boston Whaler doesn't make anything close to the 205 anymore.
