I've been a member of BoatUS for years and yesterday got an email from them stating:

Plan your time on the water with the Navionics PC/Mac software, free for Members (a $49.99) value! This feature rich software includes route planning, tides & currents, wind, import/export of routes & waypoints to/from select plotters, optional terrain overlay and more.

It came with a personal voucher code.

So last night I downloaded (MAC version) +1,600 coast charts: Alaska, Bahamas, all U.S. Mississippi River, likely Great Lakes (I didn't check at 0500 this morning), Puerto Rico, etc.
I went to bed after 3 hours at 33% completion of the download. Finished sometime in the night. You can specify what areas you want when you follow the instruction.
I played with one chart and haven't figured how to make my preferences nautical miles instead of kilometers.
So, BoatUS members, look for your email.

I've had the Navionics chart app on my iPhone and iPad for a while. It only cost about ten bucks a year or so ago, and it's as good or better than my Lorance chartplotter. Hard to see in bright sun, however. BTW, instead of buying the iPad app, I just installed the iPhone one on the Pad, and it works fine there with the screen doubler.
Thanks for the info, Jim. Highly recommeded as a back-up.

Has anyone else had problems getting through this? I can't get past the CHECKOUT page, even thought I used two voucher codes that I got from Boat US tech support. Once iI put in the voucher code and try to finish checking out the WebStore hangs.

I obtained the application, but I noticed that the only chart I could purchase was the USA chart. If I tried to purchase the chart that showed Canadian areas the voucher code was rejected.

That's why it was 'Free' a large waste of computer time for me.
