As winter storms start moving in, it's nice to look back on the warm days of summer, on the water and in our Whalers. Here is my 1975 Outrage 19 underway on Green Bay. For those who don't even know what the boat looks at speed, try this. (Also see next five forward.) Even though Whaler made over 1400 of these hulls over a period of six years, you don't seem to see many of them on the water anymore. At least I haven't.

Great boat Larry, a model I'm trying to get a buddy into as it fits our typical uses extremely well. I like the short duration videos that provide a great overview of the boat's running attitude. Which boat was the iPhone in?

The waters of the northern bay looked perfect for a long cruise down the coast, no wind with some residual swells to lift and drop the bow on occasion. I spent many hours this summer, more than ever, on the waters of Green Bay boating and fishing out of Oconto, Sturgeon Bay and Fish Creek. Hope to run a bit further north next year as my boys get a bit older and prepared for longer journeys.

We launched Two of a Kind Sunday for a Pamlico excursion. Weather was great air temp 70 and the water temp 55.6. The video starts as we are heading east towards the Outer Banks then we make a port turn into Bath Creek exiting to the south then heading back west toward Wahington NC. Entroute we stop for gas at Washington Country Club. The water and weather was absolutely wonderful but most of all the company was the best. Cheryl my first and only mate made it a day to remember. We stopped at the Washington waterfront for lunch then back to the ramp.

Tom--I always enjoy your recorded presentations. I am impressed with how quickly they load and play on your website. The results are immediate and the streaming is very fast. I also enjoy the educational contents of your recordings.

But, Tom, who is that old guy with the gray hair seen driving your boat in the last presentation?

Here's a nice video showing a Boston Whaler boat taking a cruise in the fall:

Tom--I thought your boat looks absolutely beautiful in the video. I know it has been a labor of love for you. You have a great boat. I love your longer duration wide-screen high-definition videos that show the boat underway and running in interesting locations.

Tom,

I liked the Gopro video. It's interesting to see other boating areas. Also interesting is seeing the sailboat masts bend as they reach the edge of the wide angle lens of the Gopro camera.

Also, it sounded like I was listening to my IPod.

On a side note, for some reason I could not view Larry's videos. Did anyone else have that problem?

Thanks again,

Doug Vazquez

Doug--I also had problems viewing the linked videos that Larry posted. It took about five minutes to load the video. Be patient: in time you will be able to see it.

THE GAMBLER was one of my all-time favorite Boston Whaler boats. Although just an 18-footer, THE GAMBLER went everywhere. I don't know that there is another OUTRAGE 18 that has covered so much water in such a short time. THE GAMBLER just seemed to have a spirit of adventure and was constantly looking for new places. I cruised with THE GAMBLER many times and never tired of seeing her fine lines and boundless enthusiasm for cruising. Here is a short look at her crossing my boat's wake:

JimH - that's a good one. Man I miss that boat!

Here she is overtaking a boat at WOT on Burt Lake in 2006 - that was the first year with the new 90 hp E-TEC engines.

Buckda that was one bodacious looking Outrage. Beautiful lines while running hard. Someone got a one hellva ride. Love the pictures and videos.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Here are a couple of quick videos of my two kids watersking behind my 2005 170 Montauk with the E-Tec 115HO. This boat has a Turboswing mounted to the transom. Taking in Port Charlotte, FL.

It is always great to see videos of Boston Whaler boats. I especially enjoyed Tom's videos: they were fast to load, were high-definition, wide screen, long in duration, showed interesting places, and were a joy to watch.

I'm so jealous at this moment! The Bimini trip and 370 Outrage footage was incredible. Do you work for Whaler?

Here is a video of a fun trip from this past summer. Irishcreamer in his classic 18' Outrage and me in my 22' Outrage, we made the trip from the Golden Gate up the coast to Pt. Reyes. I can't recall the distance, maybe 20 something miles. We both ended up with limits of Salmon, which made the trip completely worth it.

I do not work for Whaler. But have been lucky enough to be a part of the Whaler family for a long time.

I got a GoPro for my birthday. Having an iPad makes for easy editing and uploading to YouTube. The gopro is a highly recommended accessory for boaters. They are a little pricey, but the high quality at which they record (and takes great pictures - both underwater to 200 feet) is fantastic.

For some light holiday viewing, I cobbled together a mixed bag of GoPro footage centered around my 18 Outrage over the course of the season. The only exception is the Montana footage which was shot aboard a friend's 22. Seven months in a little over two minutes.
