I have the opportunity to buy a like new 2012 karavan trailer that the new owner does not want. It had a 2012 Boston Waler Montauk 170 on it. I have a 1987 Montauk 17 that I would like to put on this trailer. Has anyone ever had any experience or know of anyone who has put an older whaler on a new Karavan trailer from Boston Whaler? I called both Boston Whaler and Karavan. karavan sent me the specs and they are close, but I know the new Montauk hulls have been changed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Josh

I have seen a Whaler dealer use a factory 170 Montauk Trailer for a Classic 17 Montauk. It fit fine. It took a little adjusting of the two bunks to make it "dead nuts" perfect. |

I know somebody who did that exact same thing. The boat seems to fit the Caravan trailer fine, although I assume the two bunks had to be readjusted. It's a wider trailer than the old Montauk needs, but will be OK.I think it's a rather low end, minimal, trailer. |

I have a 2010 Karavan trailer and my 1984 Montauk fits fine. I had to adjust the bunks closer to the center of the trailer and I went to the next height up on the bunk risers. The risers are available from Karavan and aren't very expensive. |

Thank you allow for your input! I am going to go look at it in person tomorrow. I think I will have to order the taller bunk brackets, but I think that it is much better than the rusted steel trailer she currently rides on.Josh |

I suppose to each their own. I have a relatively new tandem axle galvanized Karavan trailer under my new to me Grady White and do not find it to be low end, or minimal. |
