How many different models of Boston Whaler boat have you owned? Mine are: 90 13 sport first boat Non whaler is grady 222 Of all them favorite has been either the 15 or the montauk. I really like the room and fishability of the standard with the front bench seat out. More like a modern day flats boat. Need to get a 20 and 25 outrage to complete the cycle one day. |

I have owned 5 Boston Whalers: 1978 15' Sport (bought new in January '79) Except for the 15' Harpoon I still own all of them. |
| Buckda |
I’ve owned five Whalers. My first was a 1989 15’ Sport GLS with a 70hp Evinrude. My next boat was a 1986 18’ Outrage which I repowered with twin 90hp E-TEC engines. The next one was a 1983 25’ Outrage Cuddy with twin Johnson 130hp Ocean Pro engines. I also bought and restored a 1868 16’ Eastport with the original Bearcat 55 outboard. I currently have the 25 and the new boat in the stable is a 1977 21’ Outrage with twin 1979 Mercury 80hp boards. Both of these boats are mid-restoration. |

Dave - Twin classic Merc in-line-4 80's. Nice. |
| Buckda |
Yes - the only problem with the 80's is that they have the clunky external power trim and tilt system, which takes up a lot of real estate and is a rigging mess (8 hydraulic hoses back there!). We're thinking about putting CMC jackplates with power trim and tilt on them. The boat was originally to be restored and sold, by my brother is in love after one shakedown cruise on the local river. |

1966 Nasuet, which started the Whaler thing. Sold because it was cheaper to sell and buy another rather than repower and the Mercury "tower of unreliable power" was a constant source of problems. Two 'Tauks 1986 and I think a 1979 but I'd need to go look (have them both now). Both have original forward casting platforms and are set up for spearfishing and diving. Both are set up with the excellent Yamaha classic 2 stroke 90 with large tanks under the RPS's. 9' Tender (worthless piece of dog-doo... sold long ago) 25 Frontier, being modified now for use as a sidescan sonar survey boat for shipwreck hunting use beginning next summer.

In chronological order: 196? 13' sport- painted it with 2 part paint (hatteras white) and repowered with 40hp johnrude ss. I was 21 and wanted it to look modern. 1974 Montauk II, also repowered with a new 115hp Johnson, saw it on the beach today... Then, I strayed: 1987 Pursuit 2550 cent console cuddy. Awesome design. Current boat 1978 17' sport, Original 70hp Johnson, a true garage princess. 1972 13' sport, sink splash well, 15" transom, currently awaiting resto. I also owned a Nichols built Lightning in there somewhere but never rigged or sailed it, and a 12' Achilles and 16' Avon. |
