The vent line runs back to the fuel intake; As the boat ages, this vent line sages and when underway, the fuel from the tank runs back into the vent line, blocking any escape of air. When you try to fill the tank, the blocked air will not allow refueling. The only solution I have found is blowing our the fuel line, blowing the fuel back into the tank. Then I refuel without problem. Has anyone figured out a solution to this. Whaler has not. I was thinking of installing a pump bulb in the line but will need to figure out how to block the line when using.

Boston Whaler had a solution for the vent problem on my 1999 Dauntless 16. The vent on my 16 vented under the fuel fill cap. The design made it very difficult to fill the fuel tank.
The solution was to replace the fill with a common fill cap and reroute the vent to the port side outer hull. I doubt that Boston Whaler continues to support this fix as it is now 14 years old but it's worth a try. It is not difficult so you could do it or have it done for a small cost.

How do you go about blowing out the fuel line?

I had the same thing happen with my 2004 190 Nantucket. I never found a solution other than only filling the tank 1/2 to 3/4 to avoid forcing fuel into the vent line.

Muskrat,
If you have the Nantucket/Outrage apply the same measures as were applied to my Dauntless in the above post. It solves the problem for small money.
