Can anyone explain to me why Evinrude would not give the customer a color choice on small HP engines? The only color choice is blue. For those of us with white engines trying to match up a kicker and wanting to stay with the same brand of engine is made more difficult by Evinrude's insistence on not giving the consumer a choice of color. Is it me?Fred

I haven't checked my local dealer lately, but a quick internet check shows two colors. http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/engines/etec_inlines |

Evinrude seems to be the only manufacturer of outboard motors that offers them in more than one color. I believe Evinrude now has three color schemes: Ocean Pearl (off-white), dark blue, and a new gray color scheme. I have only made a cursory look at what models are available in what colors. I cannot intuit any particularly rational or consistent method for predicting which model will be in which color. For example, a 200-HP engine is available in white or blue, a 225-HP or 250-HP engine is only available in white, and a 300-HP engine is available in white or gray. The 15-HO is available in all three color schemes, as are many of the other High-Output engines. The 15-HP and lower portable engines are four-stroke-power-cycle engines, and are probably made by Evinrude's partner, Tohatsu. This may affect what colors are available in those models. |

Suzuki now offers two colors, black and white, for its 150 to 300 HP models. |

Suzuki was the provider of 4 strokes for Johnson a few years back and they were made white too. Wouldn't it be something if they brought back the Suzuki sourced Johnson brand? |

to offer two or three color choices in each and every configuration (tiller or remote, shaft length, manual or electric start, power or manual tilt) within each and every horsepower model would seem to greatly complicate inventory decisions by dealers and also warehouse requirements for the manufacturerjimL |

Had I known about the color issue I would have bought my E-Tec blue! so I could match up with the kicker.I did have the 8 hp Johnson made by Suzuki on my old 17 Montauk a few years back but it attracted rust like a magnet. Was not very happy with it. Fred |

Fred,The small engines must be the exception. Back in the day selecting the Evinrude salt water version got you a white engine with a tad more corrosion resistance. Butch |
