Hello. I thought my hull was white, but after using FIBERGLASS RESTOR WAX 3M 09005 and COLLINITE PASTE FLEETWAX #885 the color that is coming out seems to be some sort of light beige. Is this the true color of the 1998 Outrage 17? http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx356/abbytoca/1998%20Outrage%20II/ Hull/DSC05043.jpg |

Previous versions were tan. Like beige. |

Yes, you have removed the oxidized layer and are now seeing the true color. It is referred to as Desert Tan. |

A good way to appreciate the color of your Boston Whaler hull is by comparing it to some paint chip samples. You will (or should) see it is far from a pure white. In some models there is also a difference in hue between the hull and the interior. |

The 1998 Outrage 17 (shown in the photo) would not have had the classic Desert Tan color when it was new. It would have been like an "off white". |

An email to Boston Whaler confirms that it is white, interior and exterior. I have to do some gelcoat repair, so I was wondering how I would go about the color matching process, now that I know the original color to match. It certainly does not look like desert tan but a very light beige. That could possibly be due to the oxidation. |
