I must replace a Bearing Buddy that took a trip. They are not easy to find in my area. Copies are available from Wal-Mart and some parts stores but are they as good as the originals? I assume the patent expired. All the copies I've seen are made offshore. I prefer to stay with the originals so maybe I'll order from their web site. Any thoughts? Butch |

Around here they are very common. Even my local neighborhood hardware store (admittedly, an exceptionally good independent hardware store) carries them in at least one size. What size do you need? |

You can order direct from Bearing Buddy on the web (PayPal only IIRC). My local O'Reilley's Auto Parts can get the genuine item in Both of the above carry the stainless version. Avoid the "Master Lock" brand knockoff. I bought a set once

Thanks guys. I need Model 1980 so O'Reilley's looks like my source. Butch |

Coincidentally I was at my local O'Reilly Auto Parts store yesterday afternoon. They had the 1.980" Bearing Buddies on the shelf. I was just over at Seattle Marine and they had five sizes of Bearing Buddies on the shelf. [url]http://www.b2b.seamar.com/WVVAI/wvo?qid=InventoryInq2x&ItemNo=BEB1980/url] |

Uh, maybe O'Reilly is a poor choice of vendor. |

Thanks Tom. I always appreciate your information and advice. There is none better in my opinion. Butch Frontier, Political viewpoints don't concern me. Good information is almost priceless. If someone wants to provide some sidebar conversation I'm all for that. If it does not interest me I don't pay any attention if it does I do. It does not offend me and it should not offend anyone. Someone could easily say "don't bother me with your knee jerk right wing reaction to my perspective." But why get into a dog fight over opposing viewpoints? I believe our country has plenty of room for all perspectives. Butch |
