Took the 2008 Montauk 150 for a spin on Lake Michigan from Holland to South Haven and return. Had to try out my new Ion action camera mounted to the shepherds hook.
She ran great and as the Lake was unusually calm (1-2 ft waves) in the afternoon I averaged almost 26.25 knts (30.2 mph) at a little less then 1 hour.
Running between 5,000 and 5,800 rpm we used slightly less than 1 gallon per 10 miles. I was very pleased how she ran.
I had some running problems 1st time out this season and took the boat in for a "professional" tune-up. They (the certified Merc dealer)had problems diagnosing why she couldn't get over 5K rpm and finally got Mercury tech service involved.
The history told them that one cylinder coil had been replaced under warranty in 2012 (just B-4 I bought the boat) The dealer and Mercury decide to replace the other three(coils) too and Mercury supplied them under warranty.
I can now get her up to it's max 6,000 rpm but I still think she's a dog getting out of the hole.
All in all a nice couple of hours for 52 miles on the big Lake and a 15 miles on the rivers and inland lakes and having more than a couple of gallons left.
I'll be ready for Torch and Elk lakes in July.

What propeller are you running? And what engine?

Sometimes due to corrosion or resistance due to water plant it doesn't reach to its maximum. I suggest to examine the shaft, propeller and engine if they are rust free. Its always advisable to check them after every 3 months or so for better life.

The standard black engine. (60 HP Mercury EPLH Big Foot) with the Stainless stiletto prop which is also standard and I think a 13-1/4" x 13" Stiletto Advantage 4.25 for this BigFoot gear case.
She runs 34.7 mph WOT on clear water with 350lbs extra weight.
As I boat on clear "sweet" water and trailer there is no water plant growth on this boat and therefore I don't understand that comment and the corrosion? The boat ran fine I wasn't complaining just made a comment.
