It looks like the Cake Boss guy from tv might be a whaler owner. I saw a brief thing pop up on the weather channel that his boat encountered fog and was recued by the police in NY. The picture that was shown showed him smiling at the helm of a large newer outrage. Oh well that is about all the interest about that subject that I can muster.

I saw and read a news item on this. Seems to me that he should learn how to use and/or beleive the GPS and radar on his 32 foot Whaler. But, heavy fog does get one's attention. --- Jerry/Idaho

I though the same thing. But he did have 9 kids and 4 adults on board.

Better safe than sorry/

Looks like this guy made a good coin with his cooking. Goes on to say that you can make your cake and eat it too.

It's hard to say whether the skipper was irresponsible, or just had very bad luck. Personally, I would think long and hard before taking 9 kids and 4 adults out for a nighttime cruise on a waterway with heavy commercial traffic. It's easy to get disoriented, even without the fog.

But then again, good judgement comes from experience, which comes from bad judgement - glad it turned out OK.
