[Seeks a] vendor to buy trailer parts. I have a 1987 Magic Tilt aluminum trailer I'm rebuilding, and I [want] to buy a new axle assembly, springs, and miscellaneous parts. What vendors have you successfully used? [Were their prices] good prices? I'm figuring around $200 to $300 for the axle assembly. Is that reasonable? |

If you want to listen to someone who keeps four trailers running: find a local trailer shop, walk in, talk, get advice, and then reward them with your business. There are lots of these shops, and generally they know what they are doing. Trailer parts are cheap. Deal locally with a shop face to face. Dave . |

When I needed new brakes for my trailer I bought them from my local outboard engine dealer, Lockeman's Hardware and Boats. I installed them myself. When I need new lamps for the trailer, I bought them from Lockeman's Hardware and Boats. I installed them myself. When I need new poly-material stoppers, I bought them from Lockeman's Hardware and Boats. I installed them myself, When I needed new keel rollers, brackets, axles, and end caps, I bought them from Lockeman's Hardware and Boats. I installed them myself. Then I needed new bearings and some axle grease seals, I bought them from Lockeman's Hardware and Boats. When I needed new fenders for my trailer, I bought them from Lockeman's Hardware and Boats, and I had them installed by Lockeman's Hardware and Boats. When I needed to have the entire bunk system changed and lowered, I had Lockeman's Hardware and Boat do the job. They did a great job for me. Lockeman's Hardware and Boats is my local boat store. I buy almost everything I need for my trailer there. I don't know if it would be a good source for you. The reason I use Lockeman's Hardware and Boats is they are my local dealer, I know all the guys there, I trust them to work on my boat, and their prices are really competitive. I might pay $5 more here and there for some part compared to some on-line place, but there is no shipping cost, there is no waiting for the part, and I like to help keep my local boat dealer and store in business by giving them as much of my recreational boat business as I can. |

Thanks Jim. You are fortunate to have that source; on the other hand you have been smart enough and loyal enough to support those folks. Value! Price is not all there is, but it is where we got Wally World, etc. etc. |

Well, I ordered about $500 worth of trailer rebuilding parts today...axle, hubs, springs, and several other galvanized parts. After checking several sources, I got a great deal from these folks here http://www.sturdybuiltonline.com Great service via toll free number, no hassle, the order taker knew the product line and made it easy on me. Should have everything next week! |
